The #22 Lady Tigers will be coming to TBA for a matchup against our #2 Lady Vols this evening (7pm est FSN). The Auburn ladies team has had to reinvent their game plan since losing PG Whitney Boddie to Academic suspension. Filling in for her is Alli Smalley, who had been contributing 11 points per game. The leading scorer for the Lady Tigers, bearing another unfortunate name, Dawanna Bonner, contributes 17 ppg and has had 7 double doubles this year.
The Lady Tigers seem to be able to hold their own against almost any team. It took a final second 3-pointer for G. Washington to get past them last Thursday. Their strengths lie at PG and G, but they will have to prove themselves against the likes of Bobbitt, Hornbuckle and Bjorklund, who just recieved her 2nd SEC Rookie of the Week, to stand a chance. Not an easy task. Tennessee has won their last 15 meetings and the last 24 of 25.
Worthy of note: You might catch a glimpse of former Lady Vol, 'Night Train' Daedre Charles-Furlow on the Auburn sideline. You may remember her from the 1989 and 1991 national championship teams. She now serves as Assistant Coach for the Lady Tigers.
