You didn't really believe them, did you?

When I heard this driving in to work this morning my first thought was that this would be a significant diplomatic victory for the patient approach.

My second thought was that it was bull shiite.

Of course I didn't believe it, would I like to? Sure, but you can't trust men like him.

The guy is completely bonkers, I agree. A stoned psycopathic megolomanic is gonna do what a stoned psycopathic megolomanic is gonna do.

The russians (who abstained on the UNSC vote) had an interesting comment -- why is it okay for the leaders of Bahrain to slaughter their citizens but not for Libya. Basically questioning what they see as a U.S. double standard. A: we are allies with Bahrain.

I've got mixed feelings on this one myself. Col. Quackers is a bad actor no doubt but he was primarily attacking those that were attacking himself. AFAIK, he wasn't randomly killing citizens.

Not sure we should be militarily involved.

Then what do you think of the coup in Egypt?

Typical short-sighted, criticize Obama no matter what, complete gibberish from you.

Anyone could see that the reason we went this route was to avoid appearing to unilaterally interfere in yet another ME country's problems. It has probably not been reported by your stone-age neanderthal news sources, but the key to this is the involvement of other Arab states.

This means that its not just the west coming in to meddle in others' affairs. This gives NATO, U.S., or other western military action the legitimacy it needs to both be successful and not act as fuel for radicals.

Yeah right!!

There could be other reasons.

The Obama administration has notified Congress of the State Department's intention to contribute $400,000 to foundations run by Muammar Qaddafi's two children — $200,000 each for daughter Aisha and son Saif. Saif, you may recall, is the son who escorted the Lockerbie terrorist Abdel Baset al-Megrahi home to a hero's welcome in Libya after President Obama sternly "warned" Qaddafi that there was to be no hero's welcome.

Obama's Two Degrees of Separation from Farrakhan and Gaddafi - Atlas Shrugs

Is it any wonder that Obama made that America bashing speech today at the UN?

"We are content and happy if Obama can stay forever as the president," Gaddafi said during a rambling, 95-minute speech

Amid his rant, Gadhafi praised President Obama, who spoke just before him. He began his speech by congratulating Obama on his election. Later he referred to him as "our son" and suggested he remain in power for life.

You probably don't want to admit that Obama and Quackdaffy's son Saif were the two top policical campaign contributors to the Kenyan candidate who, after losing, instigated muslim rioting that killed tens of thousands and dispalced hundreds of thousands from their homes?

Obama's close ties to Quackdaffy go back to at least 1984, if not longer.

You know what?? No matter how hard you try, you just can't make stupid seem to be desirable trait.

That is a great point that I hadn't thought about. Bahrain is randomly killing protesters and nobody is paying attention.

Who remembers 2,000,000 poorly armed black Africans slaughtered in southern Sudan during the last 30 years???

Quackdaffy played a large roll in that btw.

We have had practically no coverage of that in our media.

I ran into a couple of guys from southern Sudan last week, I expressed my sorry at the plight of their countymen and said I was glad they had made it to America.

You can tell what is going to happen by reading the media, if opponants of any regime are characterized as 'revolutionaries' or 'oppressed minorities' we will back them but if they are characterized as 'rebels' they are pretty much screwed.

My understanding is that Obama is sending some old transport planes.

I think it's pretty fluid and defined generally by the winner.

Remember the gulf oil drilling moritorium?

Remember one of the biggest rigs went to Libya to drill in the Med and the other to Brazil??

Where is Obama headed this week??

Interesting read on why we changed course and got involved.

Europe Pressure, Arab Support Helped Turn U.S. - WSJ.com

Yet by the weekend, France, the U.S. and an international coalition stood poised to take "all necessary measures"—code for military strikes—in Libya, under United Nations authority.

In hindsight, the meeting at the Elysée Palace in Paris was the launch point for four frantic days of diplomacy that turned the Obama administration toward intervention, western and Arab diplomats say. A lot of factors drove the shift, they say, including the administration's concern about being out of step with the changes sweeping the Arab world and of being outmaneuvered by the U.K. and especially France, both more aggressive advocates of intervention.

Just the facts maam, just the facts.
No theory needed.

Weasel Zippers Blog Archive Obama Earmarked $400K for Two Libyan Charities Run by Gaddafi’s Children…

Obama earmarked $400,000 for two Libyan charities.
The money was divided between two foundations run
by Gaddafi’s children; Gaddafi International Charity
and Development Foundation, run by his son Saif,
and Wa Attassimou, run by his daughter Aicha.
What noble causes did our tax dollars potentially
help support thanks to Obama’s generosity?

Funding of the ship Amalthea: The Amalthea sailed
to Israel with the intent of breaking the Israeli
blockade on Hamas. It carried aid for a pseudo
humanitarian crisis and supporters who were said
to be “keen on expressing solidarity with the
Palestinian people in the plight amidst the siege
imposed on Gaza.” The ship was funded by Saif
Gaddafi’s charity, Gaddafi International Charity
and Development Association.

Obama’s friend, Bill Ayers, joined attempt #1
against Israel’s blockade on Hamas. Saif joined
attempt #2. One has to wonder which of Obama’s
friends will step up to the plate at attempt #3.

Then too, Gaddafi has been funding Farrakhan
and the Nation of Islam here in America for going
on thirty years now to the tune of millions of
dollars, who knows how much of that ended up
in Obama campaign coffers??

Beats any Cheney-Haliburton conspiracy theory
by far.

Which of the facts concerning Obama/Gaddafi
connections do you deny??

"Going to war without France is like going deer
hunting without your accordian. You just leave
a lot of useless noisy baggage behind."

from the first Bush administration.

Exactly, I have a lot of respect for Sarkozy, not just for this. Also we have just launched missile strikes against targets, assuming anti-air sites.

met some French soldiers and some Legionnaires in Saudi Arabia during Desert Storm. Their regular soldiers are definitely competent, the Legionnaires are scary.

France makes some nice fighter aircraft too.

Vive La France!!!

Two questions;

1. What do you think the main motivation of the
French may be?

2. Provided Quackdaffy's forces can be brought
to a standstill, what do you think the UN solution
may be then??

I briefly considered joining the Legionnaires (sp?). It actually sounds like a great way to start a new life.

By 'we' I assume you mean UN forces?

I've not heard of any US forces deployed other
than support transport aircraft.

I agree Sarkozy is a big improvement over past
liberal heads of the French government.
