'12 GA CB Geno Smith

He could be but I'm sure that Dooley will bring in more than just one big time stud out of georgia, like Jonathan Taylor.

The players we're after right now are all for the most part elite talents and highly regarded at their position in some form or fashion. Geno Smith though, is elite of the elite. I've wanted this kid since close to the beginning of this past season. I've said it for a while, but he is the real deal. He's the type of CB that takes his outstanding talents to the next level and only gets better. It's early but I wouldn't be surprised to see him playing in the league eventually. I reeeaallly want Smith. Like Breaker, I too have a good feeling about him. He's been high on us for a while.

"Coaches like my speed and my hips," he said. "They tell me that I'm smart, and they can see I really know the game."

Article about him on gvx247sports. You guys already know about him attending junior day

Yea but that was only Oklahoma and Broyles...

Greg Reid is pretty good but he is small, Geno's ceiling Is higher as a CB.

Greg Reid is not that good of a defender. He's a great return man and gets alot of hype primarily because of that but he is burned too often. Oklahoma's WR's abused him last year.

Smith and Greg Reid aren't alike you are right.

On another note though Reid is in the Top 3 CBs in college football coming into this season.

1.Cliff Harris
2. Janoris Jenkins
3. Greg Reid
4. Stephon Gilmore
5. Janzen Jackson( if he comes back and we play him there) so what the Orange got the best of me. Hahahaha

I find Gilmore to be tremendously overrated. The rest of the list looks good though. Cliff Harris is a man out there.

That's an interesting list. Where does it come from? Is it based on stats? I'm interested as to how Reid fits in on that list. Thanks.

Tyronne Matheieu

Janoris Jenkins is the most overrated CB in the game.

reason why he got sorry draft grades and ended up coming back to school

Good call. Wasn't even thinking of Matheieu. He was great last year. LSU will have a loaded secondary again.

Matheieu is good but I only put returning starters down. He also was a target with Matt Simms at QB. But I wish that idiot Kiffin had offered him when he shut everybody down at our camp. He would have started easily for us and would have been our No.1 CB.

Jenkins is an up and down player I do think he's made a lot of big plays over the 3 years he's been down there. He started off by smashing Hardesty when he was a freshman. The other guys below him have to prove they can make plays year in and year out.

I don't do stats. Hell with stats Prentiss Waggner is one of the best DBs in the nation. I do it based on gameplay and how offenses attack the player. If they are not throwing this guys way he's impacting the game in a huge way.

Gilmore had the worst season of my list. But the whole secondary sucked, so I don't know if he was playing scared not trusting the safety behind him or what.

Hey I may move this Top 5 CB/ Top 10 DB discussion to the Around the NCAA section before a mod smashes all these posts.

More like Greg Reid.

No, not at all. Reid is a horrible defender that is starting to improve, but a great PR. Smith is a true lockdown corner, he is also a good bit bigger and faster than the petite Reid.

Much more like Peterson or Prince.

And Reid sure as hell doesn't belong on ANY Top 5 CB list. He is improving, but still a not a very good corner. Where did that list come from, btw?

Anyway, Geno will probably be the #1 CB in the country next year. It is going to be a fun battle to watch, I am guessing NSD, but has he said when he plans to announce?

It will be nice seeing him don the Red and Black next February. :D

FYP

Plan on asking him to escort you to a Valentine's dance or something, next February?!

Dooley, Lance and company will continue to take prospects from the state of Georgia like Big Ben takes women from Milledgeville bars. :p

It would not surprise me if Geno did not end up at UGA. The kid will be able to name his school when its all said and done. He will also IMO want to go somewhere where he can play from day 1. UGA will have plenty of depth next year at CB and some of the freshmen CB's coming in this year will be really good. Give me Deion Bonner (possible silent already) and I'm more than happy, Geno would be a plus at that point.
