Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite Chatter

I drunk ebayed the Skyward Sword / gold wiimote bundle a few years ago. I didn't even realize I had bid until I got the e-mail the next day saying I won the auction.

Same here. Oh well, if I don’t like it I can probably recoup my money.

Nintendo Switch becomes the fastest selling console in U.S. history!

Damn what a turnaround for Nintendo! So glad to see this! A thriving and healthy Nintendo is always great for the industry!

Nintendo has just announced a new major sales milestone for Switch.

According to the company’s own internal sales figures, since launching about ten months ago, the console has sold over 4.8 million units in the United States. That means it is now the fastest-selling home gaming system of all time in the country. The previous record holder was Wii, which sold over 4 million units during the same timeframe.

Nintendo says that more than 60 percent of Switch owners have purchased Super Mario Odyssey. Zelda: Breath of the Wild is owned by 55 percent of users while Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Splatoon 2 have been picked up by more than 50 percent and 20 percent respectively.

REDMOND, Wash., Jan. 4, 2018 – Nintendo Switch has become the fastest-selling home video game system in U.S. history. The home console that players can take wherever they go launched March 3, 2017, and in 10 months has sold more than 4.8 million units in the United States, according to Nintendo’s internal sales figures. That’s the highest total for the first 10 months of any home video game system in U.S. history, surpassing Nintendo’s own Wii system, which was the previous record holder with more than 4 million units sold during the same timeframe.

“Fans across the country have experienced the joy of playing their favorite games at home or on the go,” said Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America’s President and COO. “Now that many more people have received Nintendo Switch systems for the holidays, we look forward to bringing them fun new surprises in 2018 and beyond.”

A strong library of games continues to fuel momentum for Nintendo Switch. In the U.S., more than 60 percent of Nintendo Switch owners have Super Mario Odyssey, and over 55 percent own The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Not only are these games system-sellers, but they’re also two of the highest-rated games in history. Nintendo Switch owners also possess the fun, competitive games Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Splatoon 2 at rates of more than 50 percent and 20 percent, respectively.

More than 300 games created by third-party developers have already launched for Nintendo Switch. These include big-name brands like FIFA 18 from Electronic Arts, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle and Just Dance 2018 from Ubisoft, Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition from Mojang, L.A. Noire from Rockstar Games, NBA 2K18 from 2K Games, Sonic Mania from SEGA, Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers from Capcom, Rocket League from Psyonix and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and DOOM from Bethesda. Nintendo Switch has also received strong support from indie developers, with a steady stream of favorites like SteamWorld Dig 2 from Image & Form, Golf Story from Sidebar Games, Overcooked Special Edition from Team17 Digital Ltd and Stardew Valley from Chucklefish LTD.

This year, Nintendo Switch owners can look forward to Nintendo-published games like Kirby Star Allies, Bayonetta, Bayonetta 2 and a new game starring Yoshi. Fans can also expect continued support from major publishers such as EA, Activision, Ubisoft, Capcom, SEGA, Take 2 and Bethesda, plus a growing catalog of quality content from indie developers.

Remember that Nintendo Switch features parental controls that let adults manage the content their children can access. For more information about other features, visit http://www.nintendo.com/switch/.

Got me a switch since I travel so much and it's amazing. The idea that I can pick up My Career in 2k18 on the airplane is awesome.

I must say I'm very surprised at how much I like the Switch. I definitely helps that they had 2 GOTY caliber games in the first 7 months of release.

Started playing Zelda: Breath of the Wild a couple of days ago. Damn! This game is just so well-crafted in every facet! There's a certain magic to Nintendo developed titles that no other developer quite captures. I love developers like Naughty Dog, Rock Star, Hideo Kojima, etc. However there's just something special about Nintendo made games.

Also, for any fans of FZero, the game Fast RMX is on sale on the Nintendo eshop right now for 16.99 and let me tell you, this game IS modern day FZero in everything but name! I highly recommend this one! A very solid game for a great price.

Pulled the trigger on Zelda last night, $52 on costco.com. Amazon has spoiled me with prime shipping...5-7 day wait for this one!

Nintendo had their January "mini" direct today. Wow, to be a mini direct there was way more information than I expected!

Got my kids a switch. They love mario kart. Ages 10 and 7. Should I get Odyssey or Zelda next? Will there be a price drop on either any time soon? I'm cool with waiting a little bit.

Thanks Yank. Any reservation about buying used?

I haven't bought video game stuff in like 15 years.

Not me. 2 of my games I bought pre owned at Gamestop. You'd never be able to tell the difference. One great thing about Switch games being on memory cards, you don't have to worry about scratches, fingerprints, etc.

What are the best games for the switch?

IMO the must owns are Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Zelda. Those are instant classics that should be a part of every Switch owner's collection. Beyond those, I think Mario + Rabbids Kingdom battle is a very good "XCom" type strategy game, set in the Mario universe. Splatoon 2 is a lot of fun! My 7 year old loves it! It's a great take on the shooter genre but in a family friendly paintball package. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is a very good, 100 hour JRPG. Fast RMX (digital only) is an "FZero" type of anti-gravity racing game and it's really good (and really punishing). I love this one and only paid 16 bucks for it on the eshop. Skyrim on Switch is a very good port. Fifa on Switch is pretty good. Arms is a wacky fighting game that uses the motion Wii type controls, though you can use traditional controls as well.

Off the top of my head those are probably the best games available right now.

Thanks man.

Do we know if they are gonna have any sports games coming out? Like an MLB game? I know that’s not Nintendo’s thing really. Just curious.
