Austin Smith is out for the game.

I don't get it. What are the coaches doing wrong?!

At this point you've got to think the coaching staff is pushing them too hard with dynamic and contact drills. The rate of injuries we have faced over the last three years leads me to believe the problem is systemic.

And 2 weeks ago our team was too soft from lack of contact and real scrimmage.

But but but when Butch tries to take it easy on them, all you hear from the media and fans is how soft this coaching staff is on the players and how they're going to get ran over by SEC teams.

This game is taking too long to get here by the way. Need it to happen to ease my nerves lol.

Jumper was going to start at SAM until Kirkland got hurt. They moved him to Mike then with Bates at backup. So with Smith hurt, move him back and put Bates up to start.

They believe these guys are the best 3 to start this game..

Thanks. :hi:

You may hear that from the media and fans. But based on the rate of injuries... it is my assumption that Butch isn't easy on them. I think Butch has been consistent with that since he got here. He has made several statements about developing the toughness necessary to become a winning program etc... you couple that with the fact that he is in the hot seat. All coaching staffs have to walk a tight rope on pushing kids hard enough to get the most out of them on one side, and breaking them on the other side. It's a tricky balance.

In the hot seat?

This is starting to look a lot like last year's defense. No Smith, no Kirkland, probably no Tuttle

Coaches are doing nothing wrong... it happens. I had 3 sports related knee surgeries and not one had anything to do with a coach.

So because none of your 3 knee injuries were related to training and coaching decisions, that means none of UT's player injuries are either? Some interesting logic.

I'm not anti-Jones. I don't think his in-game decisions or his press conference statements are as bad as many think. I think his game preparation, recruiting, and scouting are all very good. But 2 areas I think he shoots himself in the foot are failing to exploit matchups and the S&C issues over the last couple years.

So I'm like you on this. All those injuries last year looked less like bad luck and more like a pattern. I think Jones has addressed this by brining in Rock, but I also know someone that was told by Rock himself that the S&C would take 2 years to fix. I do think this is an S&C issue, because you've got to think that stronger, more flexible players are less likely to get hurt. However, if the injuries keep piling up at particular spots like LB again this year, it seems like they should def look at something they are doing during LB drills as well.

*I also think the S&C issues make his player development look worse than it could be as well.

Did I miss something with Tuttle? I've heard nothing but good things about his recovery all offseason.

I'm not expecting him to play based on what I've seen or heard. Doesn't mean he isn't progressing well, but just that he may not be ready yet.

I know it sounds hateful but i can't wait for Jumper to graduate. In year 5 its unacceptable for him to be our starting MLB. Name another top 15 program he would start at. We need to put our talent on the field.

Sapp
Bituli
Mcdowell

Thats who should line up for us tommorow. Have Bates/Berry ready to sub to spell the starters.

No. It was implied in my initial post. I spelled it out for you in the next one.

9 new coaches on offense and defense including OC, new QB, new RB, replacing a DE with the TN sack record and a current 2018 top 5 recruiting class.

Yea his seat is blazing.

Bituli is coming back from injury. The other two should play. Bates is supposedly starting at Mike LB.
