Venezuela's Triumphant Socialist Paradise

With the one of the world's largest, if not the largest, proven oil reserves, Venezuela, a relatively small nation, could be socialism's shining example of the worker's paradise. These reserves have been known and tapped for close to a century. They even were Britian's primary source of oil during WWII. Yep, plenty of capital to go around. Could have 100% literacy. Could have some of the best hospitals in the world. Could, but don't.
Because socialism is evidently the world's best pitri dish for cronyism, incompetance, fraud, and corruption.

If socialism sucks, Venezuealan socialism could suck start a 747.

Has anyone on this board advocated for a completely socialist country or have they been advocating for a combination of capitalism and socialism? Perhaps the answer doesn't lie in the extremes, but maybe there is a way that the richest country on earth can do a better job of taking care of it citizens.

I'll trade you a basic living for all for an unfettered market. Deal?

Thousands of Venezuelans enter Colombia for food, medicine | Fox News

Tens of thousands of Venezuelans poured into neighboring Colombia to buy food and medicine on Saturday after authorities briefly opened the border that has been closed for almost a year.

A similar measure last week led to dramatic scenes of the elderly and mothers storming Colombian supermarkets and highlighted how daily life has deteriorated for millions in Venezuela, where the economy has been in a freefall since the 2014 crash in oil prices.

Colombia's foreign ministry said in a statement that at least 35,000 Venezuelans entered Colombia on Saturday, and their entry took place "in an orderly manner and under conditions of security." The border was opened for roughly eight hours and will be opened again on Sunday, it said. Roughly 35,000 people also crossed during last week's 12-hour border opening.

Understand here, we aren't talking about a Nordic country with short growing seasons and oil, we are talking about a tropical country with oil. There should be food available to grow everywhere and all the time, not to mention the oil revenues.

Imagine the victims here in America when our pseudo-socialist experiment collapses? You'll see this exact same scene at Detroit and Buffalo border crossings.

Venezuela is as poor of an example of Socialism as Pakistan is of Capitalism.

Venezuela has oil. They have ports. Hell they have a pretty good GDP per capita. They should be doing a lot better than all their neighbors and they are not. It's 100% failure of socialism.
