Conecting your laptop to your tv?

Everything I read on the net said to get a S-video cable and just connect the laptop & tv with it....I even tried playing with the display settings on the laptop and no luck...does the tv have to be on a certin channel?

It needs to be on whatever input the S-video connection is (assuming S-video works).

Yep. I think you can do it also via xBox and maybe PS3. Wii is working on a NetFlix app.

quality won't be as high though. Plus I doubt you could do HD content

our 360 and BR player do a great job with it though

you could also try function+f4 to get it change

yea, my 360 hasn't worked for some time now and I loved it when I could watch netflix through it. we have the Wii hooked up to the main tv in the house and I've already ordered my disc from netflix for that software.

You need a VGA cable(probably a 15 pin) that will connect to the rear or side of the laptop. There should be an Icon on one of your function keys, usually F3, that will transfer the image from the laptop monitor to the television. Like it was said above, you will need to find the appropriate Video Input, depending on your model television, that the VGA input comes through. All you're doing is turning your T.V. into a huge computer monitor.

My laptop looks great plugged into my TV with an HDMI cable. I watch all the ESPN360 games this way.

Instead of channels, have you checked through your "input" options? I have to change mine to HDMI 2.

Another cool feature on xbox is Zune where you can rent/buy new movies in standard def or 720p/1080p HD. I haven't tried Zune yet, but standard def Netflix streams look pretty good with HDMI.

If you wanted to go to the trouble, you could run the HDMI cable to your TV and watch anything you pay for on cable via your computer. Not mentioning any sites but there are some GREAT sites out there that you can get every episode of every TV show in HD quality for free. That goes for movies as well.

my dell has an hdmi output. you can get high definition level signals. i own a roku and it works very well btw.
