Question how to jailbreak an iPhone....

The wife and I have tmobile. This weekend we met up with some friends of our and he had a "jailbroken" iPhone on tmobile that worked just like any other iphone. I know what it means to jailbreak the iphone, I'm just wondering if there is anyone here who has done it that could walk me through the process. I would be much appreciated.

there are plenty of videos on youtube on how to do it. I want to do it to mine as well, but it's a company phone, so I guess it's probably best that I don't.

This guy will do it for a price.

We can unlock and jailbreak all iPHONE 3GS / 3G /2G Reminder when using iTUNE tools for music do NOT UPDATE the software or the phone will lock back to the AT&T network. Cell Phone Repair Center Inc. Dallas, TX www.cellphonerepairinc.com Nationwide Repair Service We charge $15 to unlock/jailbreak

He has the codes,or he must have access to them,or at least that's what I read on another phone forum.

Jailbreaking a phone isn't too hard if you use pwnagetool. As for unlocking it for use on another carrier? I've never done it.

Im just curious on the concept of jailbreaking, how would the monthly charges work on another carrier if you obviously dont have the data plan.

AFAIK you can only use a jailbroken and unlocked iphone on tmobile. As long as you have a data plan you can use it just like any other iphone....minus the 3G. There is a way to do it with a $5 data unlimited plan....but it's sketchy and you have to jump through some hoops.

Just as an update I bought 2 used 2G iPhones to jailbreak and unlock. The process was very easy and they work perfectly. The only problem is that now we both want the newest iPhone. So it looks like I will be selling these and buying some used 3gs models.

I have an Iphone 3g through AT&T. I jailbroke mine using pwnage tool and it was very easy. Really not much too it. Easy to undo as well. Have fun.

Not much benifit. You can download apps that are unapproved by apple and apply different themes, backgrounds and ringtones that you can't get without jailbreaking it. So again not much benefit.
