I bought bad gas in February, but that isn't the car's fault. I change the oil every 7,500 miles or so with a full synthetic.
Thus far maintenance is a non-issue. Of course, it is a 2005 with 50k miles, so we'll see eventually. |

I find that European cars, while ahead of the technological curve, also tend to be the "guinea pig" cars for new ideas. So they all eventually get their bugs, and within 100k miles.

Even the oil companies say 3000 which is more often than needed, depending on driving conditions.

Happens to be around 2,000 miles.

I run regular oil in the Jeep and only change it every 4-5k.
2k is EXTREMELY early.
Oddly Volvo recommends changing at 7,500 on the regular oil... this I would NOT do. Only run full-synthetic that long. |

| doesn't milo do the drifting stuff and what not? If he drives his car harder than most, he might need to change it more often.
My Corolla gets fresh oil every 5k |

| and here is my corolla. Not as fancy as most other cars on here, but on a recent trip to Central Va and back I got 38 mpg and it's recommended that I refuel with 87. |

It finally had a transmission failure at 230k... before that it had a cracked valve that I repaired. (only found out because it failed Davidson Co. emissions) it STILL consistently got 35 mpg on the highway with the cracked valve. Great car. Kinda miss it. |

Seriously, it's your money, but if you are using synthetic, that is much too often, might as well use regular oil. Even if not synthetic, you really cannot go by appearance. It is normal for oil to darken by 2000 miles, but it is still quite usable. Oil doesn't ever actually wear out, but does get diluted/contaminated and additives do wear out.

Kinda miss it. | Mine is an '04 straight shift ( I really can't drive an automatic). I've had new brake pads once and by the end of the year, it will need it's second set of tires as it eclipses the 100k mileage mark. That is the only work I've ever had to do it so far... knock on wood, especially since the warranty expired 15,000 miles ago. I really like this car. |
