always heard it's pretty painful. i had a tooth about two years ago i had the option of root canal or having it pulled, because my wisdom tooth was coming down right on it. i'm sure the drugs help a lot with the pain though.

Its not very painful at all....the worst part is the shot they give you to numb it...you will feel fine afterwards, maybe just a little sore, I was able to go back to work following the procedure.

Probably will feel like you were punched in the jaw for a couple days. Some stiffness, not much swelling.

Do you have a sinus infection? Sometimes they cause pain that will lead a dentist to believe you need a root canal.

I had a similar problem in February and the dentist said I had a cracked tooth and needed a root canal or an extraction. I had a "Big Charlie" glass of scotch (ice and scotch filling an ice tea glass) that night and noticed my pain had subsided greatly the next morning. I began swishing with peroxyl twice a day and also ran through a course of antibiotics for a sinus infection. In about a week I had no pain so I never took them up on the offer of a root canal.

negative. it's been hurting for about 3 weeks. the dentist said that I had a fill to crack and it's so close to the nerve that there's no other choice but to get a root canal, unless I want it pulled and that ain't happenin'

I had one in the Army, they'll give you 3 shots in the gum, other than that it's painless. Just make sure you get it crowned Ignore the drill sounds and you'll be good to go,

I didn't get mine crowned due to 9/11 business, it busted in half 7 years later....just make sure you get it finished, and you'll be fine, no pain at all for the root canal, you'll be chipper soon after you leave
