| Being that the universe is theoretically infinite, yes.
Though I have doubts that humans will ever contact anything else out there. Our little run of a few hundred million years is just a blip in the long run.

| It would seem like a lot of wasted space if we were the only living organisms in the universe.
The thing about actually finding or contacting other living organisms out there is that the fastest form of communication we know of is radio waves. Radio waves are slow compared to the size of the universe. It would take forever to send or receive messages back and forth. I'm talking about thousands of years between messages. Unless aliens have found some other method.
Also the fastest speed known to man is the speed of light. We are yet to find a way to travel this fast. It would still take years to even travel to the nearest star. It would also take 100,000 years to travel across the galaxy even if we could travel at the speed of light.
The only way to travel through the universe efficiently would be through some portal or black hole. It's called shifting the fabrics of space to jump across a shorter distance. Don't expect anyone to find a way to do this in our lifetime....Makes you think though. |

I don't see how we could possibly be the only ones in the universe, but some of the theories out there such as we were seeded is a little whacked. However, there are some really interesting formations on Mars (and not just the face).

| I agree. It's a little naive and a little arrogant to think that in the vastness of the universe that we on Earth are the only life forms that are capable of higher thought. And, given the overall age of the universe, our little planet is fairly young. So why wouldn't there be a possibilty of other advanced life out there? And, in all likelihood, there should be some that are far more advanced than us as well as far more primitive.
