What are some of your favorites?

1.The Godfather trilogy
2. Gangs of New York (not a "mob" movie but I'll include it.)
3. The Untouchables
4. Goodfellas
5. The Departed
6. Donnie Brascoe
7. A Bronx Tale

I haven't seen Miller's Crossing, Casino, Bugsy or Once Upon A Time In America. So that list could change.

The most overrated film in this genre IMO is Scarface.

Have to disagree with your number 2 JZ. I really did not like that movie at all.

I know, most people don't like this movie. I read the book by Herbert Asbury and the film just caught my imagination. Day-Lewis does an amazing job as Bill the Butcher and they built the set to look as it did back in the 1860s.

Yea, I saw once and from what I remember it was pretty good.

I like almost any movie set in the '20s, '30s or '40s though.

I know it's already been mentioned, bit I didn't think I would like The Departed, but it turned out to be a lot better than I thought. And who can forget Bouz in the Hood? :eek:k: Actually, I don't like it all that much, but other people seemed to.

Some good choices so far. An older one I count among my favorites is White Heat w/ James Cagney.

"Top o'the world, Ma!!!"
