| | Mayberrys Pride | CLEARWATER, Fla. Evel Knievel, the red-white-and-blue-spangled motorcycle daredevil whose jumps over crazy obstacles including Greyhound buses, live sharks and Idaho's Snake River Canyon made him an international icon in the 1970s, died Friday. He was 69.
Knievel's death was confirmed by his granddaughter, Krysten Knievel. He had been in failing health for years, suffering from diabetes and pulmonary fibrosis, an incurable condition that scarred his lungs.

| | The Minister of Defense | man, that sucks, I had this Evel doll, he sat on a bike that had this rip cord thing. you yanked it and then let it go. My mom used to freak because I scuffed up all the baseboards in our house with it. he was awesome. |

| Amazing that he survived that fall at Caesar's Palace....He was once on the cover of Time magazine under the headline "King of the Goons" for his Snake River stunt.....I remember having his windup motorcycle and action figure when I was a kid - by all accounts he was a first class jerk but you had to admire his guts... |

| | Senior Member | Sad, I remember going to the Knox Coliseum years ago to watch him jump over the Snake River, was a disappointment, still think he pulled the chute early, but we'll never know. |
