I didn't know you could go inside it. It's an Arc....does the elevator go sideways.

Can an engineer please explain this.

I'm no engineer, but there are two trams that go to the top of the arch.

The elevator is sort of like a tiny gondola. I'm not an engineer, but I've been up in the arch. It wouldn't be fun to get stuck there. It's cramped.

the compartments are incredibly cramped too. When I went up there was 4 people in there and all our knees touched each other we were so close. If you are tall you may have to lean forward because the ceilings are so low in those. I felt miserable in those for like the 10 minutes or so I was on the way up, I'd go crazy being in there trapped.

Well, all things considered... In terms of American landmarks,

Space Needle >>>>>>>>>>> Arch

Does the Arch have a restaraunt at the top?

Apparantley not. Apparantley, all it has is crappy little boxes.

So, unless they serve unlimited soup, salad and breadsticks from Olive Garden inside them, once again,

Space Needle >>>>>>>>>>>>> Arch

You're not joking, it would definitely suck to be trapped in there. It's like something out of Willy Wonka..

I would have to agree. I've been up in both and enjoyed the space needle a lot more than the arch. They're both pretty cool though.

I can only imagine the disappointment of those that tour the Arch must feel when they get to the top and realize there isn't a restaurant up there.

There are plenty of space needle type structures in the world. The CN tower in Toronto is far more impressive. The arch is the gateway to the west. What is the space needle?

It's kind of a silly argument, but I just enjoyed the space needle more. There's stuff to do up there and you can go outside. In the arch, there's nothing really up there and you're closed in. To each their own I guess.
