Area residents: What DON'T you like about Knoxville/E. Tennessee?

I've already made the decision to move up there, summer of 2008. I'm researching alot of things to make this as smooth as possible, and I'm coming up with few negatives. So maybe some of you folks who are there day in and day out can shed some light, and tell me things to look out for.

Thanks in advance.

It is frustrating because there is a lack of things to do unless you are into the bar/club scene. If you haven't had problems with allergies, you can be assured that you probably will once you arrive in East Tennessee. Other than that, I wouldn't trade it for anywhere else in the world.

PS

I promise not to be some rude Florida jerk. I've heard some stories from friends up there. I respect the area culture alot, and love the people I've met so far.

Pollen and humidity. Other than those TN is one of the best places.

east tn is great, if you are not a big city person. if you are a big city person, not the place for you.

there's good golf, plenty of outdoor stuff in the mountains (camping, hiking, rafting, etc...), boating on the lake, fishing, hunting etc.......

A solid assessment. The air quality is wretched, too.

Correct. It's just sad we don't get enough quality acts into those venues.

The roads/traffic can suck at times!

But for the size I think there is enough to do around town to keep you busy. If you are the outdoors type you will love it.

IMO west Knoxville has a lot to offer. The Turkey Creek area has one of the best movie theaters I've ever been to. There are tons of good places to eat so that could keep you busy as well. Lots of lakes in the area too! downtown is getting better IMO and Market Square can be fun especially watching all the rednecks that come in from surrounding areas to watch Sundown On The City. The Tenn. Theatre hosts good concerts from time to time.

Plus it's a great place to raise a family.

you know, there's not too many places anymore where the air quality isn't regressing. I read recently that CHarlotte has one of the worst air quality ratings in the country...i have no idea why, but it is defnitely worse today than when i moved here....it can't all be cause of traffic??? anyway, i digress...

that is also a good point....the music scene is much better than one might think upon first glance.

One of the best things I like about Knoxville is that there are several cities with pro teams within driving distance (Atl, Nashville, Memphis, Charlotte and Cincy) to name a few.

i personally have been pretty satified with the shows AC Entertainment has brought in. of course, music opinions are all relative to who you're talking to.
