| | Bleating Minion | Avoid the Lowrance 350c. It's very user friendly, but there have been a lot of issues with power supply and batteries. My company has gone to giving everybody Garmins and they seem to be a little more reliable. |

| | doo doo doo | I'll be buying soon - leaning towards the Garmin Nuvi 660.
I've read a ton of reviews - this one seems to come out on top but all the top brands (Magellan, Garmin, TomTom) have pros and cons. As Smokey Vol posted, the TomTom Go tends to get good reviews for ease of use but gets dinged on map accuracy relative to Garmin and Magellan.
Bottomline, there appear to be several good options out there.

| | Senior Member | Take a look at Plenio. I got one in December and found that its best feature is also its worse. The 7" screen is great for older eyes but it takes up too much room (and visability) on the dash. Fortunately I was able to mount it in a cup holder.
Tom Tom was my choice until I found this one. |

| | Bleating Minion | Despite the issues that I've had with mine, once you get a GPS device in your car, you wonder how you ever lived without it. If you travel at all, it makes life so much easier. |

| | doo doo doo | I love the commercial where the guy professes his love for his GPS module -- only to be rebuffed to the strains of "Total Eclipse of the Heart"

I can't remember the sources but TomTom uses a European company that supposedly has better maps of Europe but the Magellan, Garmin, etc. use a company that has better US maps.
What's your experience? How frequently are you directed to non-existent roads, exits, etc. How often are you routed to longer than necessary routes?
