Who would pick that thing up and tote it around in their car?

Seems weird

Is it weird that I actually felt quite sad reading that story?

Makes me sick.

I'm reminded of A Clockwork Orange. The movie isn't as clear, but the whole point of the book is that every person goes through a personal evolution: we all start out as destructors...all babies can do is consume and damage.

Then, we learn to do more than destroy. We learn to create and eventually we mature enough to become net creators.

The guys that built the robots are the creators that change humanity for the better. The people that haven't grown up/evolved destroy the robot and they hold everybody back.

F*** these guys.

I agree. It's the most played out plot in sci-fi. Sick of artists trying to demonize technology.

Technology is our only hope. Trying to intergrate tech into the fabric of our civilization without destroying individuality is our greatest task going forward.
