Anyone familiar with the Graston Technique?

Some of y'all probably saw in a couple of threads where I mentioned I tore my calf muscle two months ago. It is healing slowly, but my physical therapist is starting this graston technique next week to break up scar tissue. I'm able to do most day to day functions, but I still have limited side to side mobility and I still can't put a lot of force on it (ie, no running, jumping, etc).

So can anyone give any stories or advice about the whole process? thanks in advance if so.

If they are trying to break up scar tissue just assume it's gonna hurt like a witch

That's what I've heard, but I don't know of anyone with firsthand experiences.

sounds painful, i'd load up on pain killers before therapy

Not good. Very rarely does any work soft tissue work feel good. Has she been doing work already in your calves? I hope so

Yes. I have certain stretches I have to do.
