Serious question folks. Which do you like better? I'm sick of Comcast! Please help me with this decision! I need Internet and cable TV. I want Internet for surfing/gaming and Netflix streaming, so WiFi strong enough to reach a ways is a must. Thanks in advance!

Had Directv for years but just switched to Uverse for TV and Internet. Cheaper and no contract

That is a possibility as well. Is the Internet fast enough for my purposes? My Comcast bill is near 400 a month!

Take it for what it's worth but I got into a conversation with a DirecTV rep one day a few years back. We rented a house in Destin that had Dish service. The thing was horrible! It would cut out when it wasn't even raining, right in the middle of a show or movie that you were really getting into. So I asked him about this just to see what kind of answer I'd get. He basically said Dish will put up antennas anywhere and everywhere even when the signal strength isn't supporting it. He threw out some percentage strength number that DirecTV won't go under. Basically if your house has bad signal strength, they'll be honest and say they can't give you service. Once again that was a rep so I don't know if he was just blowing smoke.

They are similar. Dish is about 25 a month cheaper for a similar package and has better customer service. I have had both. Both are far superior to Comcast

Not sure I understand your requirements around Internet strength when trying to decide between TV providers. What are your options for Internet service?

$400?? ThatÂ’s a lot of PPV porn. Not that IÂ’m judging. :)

Have had DirecTV for years running on three TVs and never had a problem. Their customer service has always been excellent to me. Uverse has got my attention, however. Comcast is a telecom horror and enemy to all consumers.

Yes you can. Both offer Internet. I inherited this comcast account from the deceased mother of my fiancee. It has EVERYTHING including security system. I'm tired of paying for it just because it was there. I need to save some money.

Direct does not have internet. They do partner with carriers for Internet services. I originally got my u verse internet through the Direct partnership, saved $10 per month on bill by doing so bUT I still pay Direct for TV and Uverse for internet. The discount price with uverse was only good for 1 year service

I can assure you that directv doesnt offer internet service....you can bundle it with a dsl deal through ATT. Dish uses another company in a similar way through dishnet. Both internet services are inferior compared to cable internet IMO.

Your WIFI strength has nothing do do with whatever service you get, all has to do with what type of wifi modem you have.

Directv does offer internet but it isn't very cost affective. It's called HughesNet and really the only customers are those that can't get cable or dsl. It is satellite internet.

As far as paying $400 a month with comcast. If it has EVERYTHING, then that isn't hugely outrageous. If you combine TV service with alot of channels, highspeed internet, phone and sercurity, then $400 makes more sense. You can start by getting rid of security and phone service. I assume that will knock your monthly price down. Then cut some of the premium channels and maybe internet speed. Have you called Comcast at said you were leaving? Maybe they will offer a cheaper price.

If you don't want to get rid of phone, security, faster internet and premium channels, you aren't going to say a ton of money if you switch anyway.

I don't need the phone. The security system will cost me I think 300 bucks to cancel the contract on it. I have ADT for that since Comcast's didn't work even when they tried to fix it for my deceased mother in law. The account was already past due when I inherited the bill. It isn't in my name and I don't want to pay almost 1200 bucks to comcast that I'm not responsible for.
