A Hard-Working Guy Gave Money to an Elderly Panhandler Everyday. Then She Pulled Up in a Red Fiat…

Okay, so there was this elderly lady standing on a median in Oklahoma City holding a cardboard sign saying “78-year-old widow needs money for food.” We’ve all seen them, right?

There was only one problem: when she was finished panhandling for the day, she jumped into her shiny new car and drove off.

Anyway, so a man who had just given her money sees her in her new car and confronts her. (He wasn’t happy.) Moreover, a woman who had also been ripped off by the lady videoed the whole episode and posted it on YouTube.

When confronted by the media, not only did the lady get angry – she slapped a cameraman in the process.

I never give a homeless person money.

Once, in DC, some guy said he was hungry and didn't have any money. There was a McDonalds right around the corner so I told him I'd buy him some food. He got pissed and told me to forget about it.

If a homeless person ever tells me they're hungry, I always offer to buy them food.

I chased a beggar through the Little Rock Greyhound station with a box of granola bars 20 years ago.

LMAO!

Her daughter cut off all communication with her for doing it. Now she's on this video crying and pleading to a news crew about how she was doing it to pay bills. Everybody is in debt but they don't go down the street and panhandle!

I do wonder if you can make more than 7.25 an hour panhandling in most cities. If so, minimum wage is for the birds, unless you have that pesky pride issue.

The only time I gave money to a homeless guy was in Chicago and that was after he gave me directions. I figured he earned the $.50.

I typically wave them off with no remorse. .....every now and then I cave.

The last time I caved, he had a kid in tow.

I did give to a guy with a dog. I didn't give the guy anything but I did give him a small bag of dog food I had that my dog couldn't eat. To his credit at least, he did seem appreciative.

I remember seeing an old lady selling old stuffed animals outside a Walgreens in Greer, SC. She gave my girlfriend at the time some sob story so she bought one. Two days later we're in Cherokee, NC almost 100 miles away & there's that same old lady pan handling people at a convenience store. She must've needed some casino money.

I saw more panhandlers in the 3 months I lived in OKC than I ever have anywhere else. Never gave them money, always figured a good chunk of them were able bodied lazy people.

Hell, even the state of tn wil pay anyone to Goto school! I see it every day, guys come into class and don't do crap! They talk about howuch te they got left to get their fasfa refund check! I paid cash to go to school , hard earned cash, and have to sit next to these suckers just getting paid to do nothing.
But it will pay off in the end , I'll easily earn 100 times more a year than they will and be damn proud of it.
Don't give pan handlers anything.

When your own daughter is so embarrassed by you that she cut off communication you know you're doing something despicable.

Exactly. Living where I am, I'm used to panhandlers. I actually had one approach me last Friday night. His story was that his car broke down, he needed engine fluid, and the police and fire department would not help him. He also said that he has a wife and 4 year old daughter that he needs to get home that's over an hour away. I knew after all the details that he had his story rehearsed.

There's quite a few in Anchorage. One guy had a sign that said I'm just gonna buy beer. I gave him a dollar for being honest

Everyone that posted here - never go to San Francisco.

I was there last year. They have their own small town almost. And that's the first place I've ever been to where ducking into a high end department store/mall to get away didn't help.

Here, the bums pick intersections with 3 minute cycles. They average $5 per red light. That's 20 cycles per hour, or $100 per hour.
