iPad vs. Galaxy Tab and Timeliness

There's probably a thread on this already, but I'm a little lazy at the moment and I'm just curious if those in the know are slightly more up to date on what exists and what might exist soon. Do y'all think now is a good time to pick up a new tablet, or am I setting myself up for watching a new series of tablets get released mere weeks after shelling out serious cash?

Can't find a US date but I would guess this fall.

If it's been over 6 months since something released I would hold off. Either get a deal on something old or just get something new. Of course with holidays approaching deals will be everywhere.
