To quit letting alcohol run my life.. This sucks so bad! I wanna be free from it. It's the hardest thing I've ever dealt with, all I think about first thing in the morning is when I'm gonna have my first drink.. And I don't want to!

Don't take this the wrong way, but you should consider going into treatment

There is a reason the 12 step program makes sense for so many people. And it applies to so many things in life once you're willing to admit you're addicted to this or that (alcohol, nicotine, work, porn, drugs, shopping, gambling, etc).

If you're to the point that you are sick and tired of losing control, then give up control. Find an a local AA group, or even an Al-Anon group.

Just keep going forward, instead of going back.

100% what SDV said. There are different treatment facilities around. Reach out and hey some help man. Alcohol ruined several in my family so I know how hard it can be. Don't do it on your own.

I don't, but my little brother stayed in Bradford off and on for drug problems.. So, I don't believe it helps. I think I'm gonna have to join a gym or something to that extent

Cold water with Apple Cider vinegar in it (3 table spoons to 12 oz). works well. Know several people who come down from shine, bourbon, vodka and sour mash whiskeys using this very old remedy. Hell I even use it to control hunger after workouts. Know for flushing your system. Diabetics use it in this way.

If this doesn't work go to the doctor and get the stuff that makes you puke after you ingest alcohol.

Good luck.

It definitely helps, but the individual has to buy in

I know somebody that did Bradford too. They make money. Find an AA group, they are free.

Cyclops,

Over the years I've come to realize that I have a very addictive personality. Being the eternal optimist I tried to look at this trait as something I could turn into a positive as appose to a negative.

I won't go into where I was, but I went to some dark places. But I was able to redirect my addictive personality to something healthier, like running. After a while I found myself craving runs and excercise in the same way I craved to drink.

Ultimately my addictive personality led me to compete in and finish Ironman Arizona.

Shoot me an email if you want to talk. I'm your age and can easily relate to your predicament.

Coming from someone that suffers from the same affliction, if this is your 3rd time trying to quit then you don't have the appropriate atmosphere to change. How serious are you about kicking this?

God bless

Any advice will be appreciated

Stop watching UT sports.

In all seriousness, you've received some very good advice in this thread. Ultimately it's up to you to take the first step... and that's more than just "wanting to stop". Take the initiative to seek help. It will change your life for the better.

i will be honest,i probably ain't the best one to give advice, but if you are serious, all the programs and meds and home remedys aren't going to do much

the success rate is pretty even across the board,it may help you to get into something like AA,there is other programs that don't require an amen, but it is going to boil down to what you are going to do

it is going to test your will power, but you know what is going on in your life and you have obviously made your mind up as to what you need to do

make a lot of changes, don't be hanging out with your friends that drink, that is key,get out and do some stuff sober,i know it sounds silly but go to the zoo,go fishing,go to the movies, throw your self into work, just what ever gets it done for you

you are the only one that knows what that will be,but i have faith in you, that you will get it done and don't get pissed at yourself if you back slide a bit,get it done,we all know that you can,if you put your self to the grindstone

you have a hell of a lot of friends on here, that has your back, just call out and ask for a little help,we all will do our best as long as you put in the effort

Thanks, thanks to all y'all.. I've been on the phone with one of my best friends talking about this, I'll have y'all know I broke my addiction of drinking whiskey all day to starting beer @ 2:00..(when I'm not working) but, ultimately I want to be sober.
