The Jackson family was originally from east Tennessee. Because of job opportunities, fate had placed them in the Battle Creek Michigan area some years ago, but young Caitlyn never lost her love for the Big Orange of Tennessee. She never turned down the opportunity to let people know who her favorite team was or what her favorite color was. Even having the daunting task of battling leukemia for the past 3-1/2 years, and having to spend countless weeks in hospitals in Battle Creek and Ann Arbor never kept her from cheering on the Vols. She was recently visited by a group of Wolverine athletes including one member of the football team who asked her if she was a Michigan fan. To which she promptly pointed out her stuffed Smokey and let him know she was a Vol fan. (besides, who is Devin Gardner anyway?).
This past weekend, Caitlyn lost her battle with leukemia, and the Volnation lost a great warrior. Her fellow classmates @ Lakeview Middle School along with countless other area students and community members decided to honor her memory by wearing shirts they had made in support of her and her family. Others simply wore orange which they knew was her favorite color, from her love of the Vols, with a number of those actually wearing Tennessee shirts.
An honorary Vol for Life is what she was. She will forever be remembered by some of us as a "Vol for Eternity". May God bless the Jackson family. School Reverses Ban of Shirts Honoring Deceased Middle Schooler | FOX17online.com
