| It's a fair point to discuss. I can't help but think that bigger problem isn't Algebra, but our math prep leading up to Algebra. Our passage rates are horrible and I don't think they have to be.
Do all students NEED algebra? No. But being able to pass it is a sign that we are getting it right when it comes to math comprehension. Obviously we are not. | |

| I don't understand how Algebra I is so tough for students to learn/pass.
I can understand Algebra II, pre-Cal, and Calculus A,B.
If Y = mx + b is too challenging, then we have bigger problems. | |

| This amazes me. I use simple algebra almost daily in my job. I've also had jobs in the past where I have used calculus and advanced algebra to solve problems. | |
