| Who Would Win? In a fight, tech being even.
Robert E. Lee
vs
Benedict Arnold (prior to the betrayal)
Why?

Why? | It is always an interesting question when it involves Lee. Lee fought every battle as if it was his last, I believe Lees greatest weekness was overall scope. Arnold would bide his time and wait on Lee.
Grant said it best when he said Johnston terrified him and Lee didnt. Grant knew Lee would always maintain contact.
Unpopular as it will be, Arnold wins a prolonged engagement. |

| Tech being even, purely on strategy.

| Arnold's campaigns in Canada, and the game he played with the Brits along the Canadian border was brilliant. He nearly took Quebec, and keeping the Brits camped in Canada as compared to New York was clutch.
Rommel's biggest victory in Africa was against an underarmed group. Once the Allies figured out mixed arms and tactics it was over. Arnold took a rag tag team and took it to the best in the world.

I would argue Rommel did the same in Africa. He had zero support/logistics |

| Rommel was constantly outmanned and under-supplied, plus he had to deal with the idiocy of the Italian general staff and the dominance of the British navy.
That being said, both he and Arnold were excellent underdog generals who made the most of what they had. Its an interesting subject. They were something of the Hannibals of their times. |

| Mosby had a great strategy. Partisan rangers to the end. |
