| You should take a look at Statistics as well. It's offered through the business college at UT. I have both a Bachelor's and Master's, and I love my job. The introductory class can be boring, but the heart of it is when you get to any sort of predictive modeling (regression/time series, etc.).
Finding a job was an absolute piece of cake, as well. I love how well-networked the business college at UT is. I turned down two other offers before I finally took a job as a Statistician at State Farm. It offers excellent mobility in many different job areas (insurance, technology, gaming, engineering, etc). Also, there are no exams one has to pass (other than comps in graduate school) like with accounting/actuarial. Those are pretty good fields as well, though.

| Sorry to side track, but this thread is relevant enough.
For those that have an MBA, how much has it helped you in job searches, etc? Is UT a well respected school to get one from? I'm considering the MBA/MS in Sport Management dual degree if some other opportunities don't work out after I graduate in December. |

The best advice i can give you is no matter what major you choose, get some relevant work experience through an internship or otherwise. It is appalling that so many of my classmates think their piece of paper will get them a job. Network through your place of employment and start early. You will have a huge leg up if you start your freshman year on these things |

this says you need 150 hours, including 24 in accounting, and 24 in general business to sit for the exam.

I wish this was exaggerated. |

I am kind of still wondering how much the MBA title helps because I feel like my prior work experience (Army) gets me in the door pretty easily. I did quite a few interviews for an internship this summer and I can honestly say that a few of the interviews were based solely off the first job title they saw on my resume. I even had one guy go as far to tell me he just wanted to hear stories during an interview. However, at the same time I was only applying to internships tailored for MBA's, so I can't give an honest 100% answer. I'm beginning to think it helps in the long run though as most of the senior management has the three letter distinction.
UT is a well respected school in regards to supply chain with an emphasis in logistics. I almost came back there solely based on that, but I decided sourcing was more interesting to me. I could be wrong, but last I saw was that UT was ranked in the top 10 of all supply chain MBA programs. You have the usual top schools such as Penn State, Michigan State, Arizone State, and Harvard, but UT has always been right there with them in supply chain.
The only piece of advice I will give you if you do start looking for an MBA program, look at what the program is good and known for. My MBA program is known for its ability to teach sourcing and contract negotations, so I got an internship in sourcing pretty easily. All of the supply chain concentration students got internships, even the international students (a feat in itself). Some fellow students wanted a marketing intership. Well, the program isn't exactly known as marketing hotbed of talent. Some of them do not have internships this summer. The year group ahead of me is having the same issues in regards to jobs. The supply chain students had jobs locked up early and often compared to other majors. |
