Einstein was right after all....

I remember in one of the evolution debates someone tried to point out that Einstein was wrong about the speed of light therefore scientist are probably wrong about evolution. Well turns out Einstein is still right.

How can anyone reasonably argue that because Einstein was potentially wrong about ONE theory that ALL scientists are wrong about evolution? I swear, there are some very, very intellectually challenged religious people.

To be fair, I believe the argument was that what we know about science one day can completely change the next. This is true to some extent but I would argue that in most cases science builds on previous theories not completely throw them out the window, which is the case with evolution.

Yet, religious argument never changes.

Over and over 'scientists' keep making the same mistake trying to apply absolutes based on what we are actually able to observe. In this world "right" and "wrong" varies based on the measurment instruments of the day.

Einstein wasn't on a quest to be conclusive about anything; he just wanted to add to the discussion. Consider three of his most famous maxims:

"Try not to become a man of success but rather try to become a man of value."

"Whoever undertakes to set himself up as a judge of truth and knowledge is shipwrecked by the laughter of the gods."

"The important thing is not to stop questioning."

I suppose you could take the opposite view as well. Einstein being right on one theory does not make all scientists right about any other theory, evolution included.

Irony is funny

So you took offense that the OP made a generalization of scientists based on one opinion made by him. So you then make a generalization that all those who question science are religious. So you just did the same.

And for the record, I agree with you - lots of intellectually and common sense challenged folks on here

One thing that history has shown is that science should be used as a guiding force and not fact. Not to take from either side but to act as if science is fact is naive.

So should I hold off on declaring the earth a sphere and that it rotates around the sun and not vice versa?

don't forget anthropogenic global warming, which, despite claims by Algore, is far more of a theory than settled science
