About this Page -- This is a discussion on Nashville Residents. within the forum The Pub. how do you cope with the traffic? honest question ... seems to keep gettin worse and worse by the month. ...
I come in from Donelson and at 7:00am usually I40 isn't bad...if there is a back-up or something I usually take Lebanon to Hermitage to 1st...(assuming you're going downtown in the AM).
Honestly, I’ve taken the train downtown before and it’s remarkably efficient – the problem is that from Donelson it’s just not worth the money to buy a monthly pass. When my car is in the shop or something the train is a great alternative.
I live in Franklin and occasionally will hit traffic due to wreck or something on way into downtown Nashville. On way home, there is construction on 65 past cool springs, but I'm soon off my exit, so no big deal. I don't consider being able to drive at 55-60 on the interstate to be heavy...only if you are going at a crawl. I think for a city it's size, our traffic is pretty good

I agree....except if you are coming down I65 from Hendersonville. With everywhere else in Nashville there is some alternative to the interstate in getting out of town with the exception of I65. Getting off it can be just as long as staying in the bumper to bumper traffic.
Not sure if the OP has explored all the possibilites of alternative routes or not but it would be helpful to know where to where and what time of day.
Try living in Atlanta part of the year. Nashville is a dream come true.
Try living in NYC part of the year. It takes me longer to drive 12 miles from Queens to Westside Manhattan than it takes to fly from Nashville to the city.
