| 30th anniversary of the 1982 World’s Fair Today was the 30th anniversary of the opening of the ’82 World’s Fair…here’s a nice write-up and video from WBIR…. Remembering the 1982 World's Fair | wbir.com
I was six at the time, and my parent’s and I had a season pass. Darn shame I wasn’t old enough to enjoy the Strohaus However, I have some fond memories of the fair….the Energy Express parade, the Rubick’s Cube, the crazy looking wind mill at the US pavilion, and talk of energy….didn’t understand at the time, but it’s amazing how topics cycle.
Anyone got memories of the fair they’d like to share?
Now I’m hungry for Petro’s….looks like that’s what I’m doing for lunch tomorrow! |

| 82 was my first year at UT and I lived in Greve Hall looking towards the fair. Every night there was a fireworks show. |

| Geez Louise, we beat Bama in a nail-biter, went to the 82 World's Fair to celebrate, and later had to bail Norman out of jail for smarting off to a cop. Memories ...

| Our season pass was a board we put up against the wall behind one of the bathroom buildings. I was living in Clement at the time so we would hop the wall about 3 times a week. Of course it was kind of awkward to take a first date to the fair and tell her she had to enter through the men's room... |

| | doo doo doo | Season pass rocked. I was a Soph at UT. My neighbors ran all the arcades so they provided me with an endless supply of tokens. I kicked major Galaga arse. The Clydesdale and Australian pavilions were my hang out - cheap beer and good times.
