Stars and Bars is a reference to the Confederate flag!
The American flag has Stars and Stripes.
Is adidas really trying to emulate the flag of the Confederate States of America? That's not going to go down well with some folks.

Very sadly, it'd go down very well with other folks.

While I don't think this is the forum for such a thing.

I absolutely disagree with you.

When it is used as a symbol by the KKK, the Aryan Nation, and other hater-mongers, there is most certainly something wrong with it.

Many faiths used the swastika.

Hitler wore leather shoes.

IBM made the index cards which the Nazis used to inventory Jews in Germany.

No, I don't agree that one groups use of an item somehow sullies it forever.

Not to get all historically correct on you but the Stars and Bars is actually not the Confederate flag that most people know today. The Stars and Bars is the name for the 1st National Flag of the Confederacy because it looked like the stars and stripes with blue in the corner with white stars but it only had three wide stripes or bars red on the top and bottom with white in the middle.

It actually lead too the creation of the famed battle flag [X] because during the first couple of battles a lot of the Southern soldiers were still wearing blue uniforms and when the flag wasn't waving or was obscured by smoke from a distance they couldn't tell if it was a Northern or Southern flag.

By the way the official Confederate battle flag is square not the rectangular version you mostly see now days which was the CS Naval Jack but was used by some Western Theater Armies such as the Army of Tennessee the only difference was the color blue used in the flag light blue for Navy, dark blue for Army use.

I am done preaching now it just bothers me to hear this during news casts when a simple look at history book (website) can get you the factual info.

I live on a street called Plantation BLVD which used to be a an actual plantation. When you enter the subdivision you drive past the plantation and along the street they actually kept the houses where the tobacco was dried out which my wife actually thought were slave cabins.

Believe it, its true... The swastika was also used by Native American tribes. However, since Hitlers use of it -which gives it an obvious relation to the Nazi's-, it has been outlawed in certain places, removed from use among most Native American tribes, and generally thought of as a symbol of hatred.

I know its use in Indian tribes, trust me.

However, you can't honestly tell me that I could wear a swastika shirt and expect people to understand. Like it or not, things become associated with those who use them.

The Rebel Flag is no different. It also doesn't help that the majority of the people I know who fly the flag as a symbol of "heritage" are also bigots.
