Possibly loading this weekend up with racing in Chicago. Velodrome certification Friday, a criterium on Saturday, then, for sure, a XC race on Sunday. Depends on transportation there, though. Oh, and Lollapalooza sprinkled in each night after.

I went out for 25 miles today, specifically aiming to KOM a segment on Strava... but Strava didn't register the effing segment. I did KOM 2 others in the process, though.

I thought the same thing about the roads. Also, would have been real nice to see Phinney (American) get on the podium, but a strong race nonetheless.

KOM'd 7 segments last night. That ought to get some of the riders' attention.

What's your favorite bar tape? I'm using Shimano's P.R.O. tape right now and I love it. I've used LizardSkins 2.5mm DSP and various cork tapes in the past.

Got fi'zi:k. Don't have experience with much else other than the original Trek tape.

Same here. Need to replace my bar tape. It's looking shabby.

The fi'zi:k has held up pretty well. Doesn't have the cushioning of my prior tape, but I got used to it quickly. It's probably lost a bit of the grippiness in the last year+, but other than that it still looks good.

If it's lasted more than a year, I'd consider that a good tape. I think I've run that before on my old Trek and was happy with it. We tend to sell a fair amount of it.

The way it's been going, I'd be surprised to not get 10,000+ miles from it. But I go through products slower than many other cyclists do.

Faster, Stronger, Lighter: Olympic Track Cycles | Playbook | Wired.com

Watched a bit of the sprint race today. A weird event. Each team has two members, but one of them only serves to provide a draft for 15 seconds.

Link above says track bikes run tires at 220 p.s.i. Wow. My pump says it only goes to 180. I doubt it could even reach that.

One of my goals is to get certified and race at track event. It's the purest of cycling sports and also the most hotly contested. There are two tracks in Chicago and one in Madison. If you think team pursuit is weird, then watch the Kieren or the Madison. March Sprint is cool, too, but very boring until the last 200m or so. It's a total mind game.

Must be nice. I'm incredibly hard on my components, mainly because I'm 200+lbs, strong, and I crash a lot.
