Thirty-three miles on the road bike tonight. Headwind galore and still averaged 17+mph. Where the hell was this power and endurance yesterday?!

You built it up over the weekend.

More like overnight, apparently. That kind of power would have ensured I would stay with at least the chase group yesterday. Fail.

In other news, I just put a pair of HED rims on order. Yummy. Now what hubs do I lace them to? 105? Ultegra? Something not Shimano? I kind of want some loud hubs.

Nope. Anything deep I want is carbon. I went with 23mm box section HED Belgium rims. I did order high polished deep dish Foer rims for my red Rocky.

Thirty miles last night with headwind again. Averaged 20.2mph up a short, but steep, hill. Legs are shaky today.

Finding a mountain bike race in California, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, or Nebraska during the weekend of August 24-26 has been unfruitful. You'd think there would be at least one race in one of those states. However, I will be in Colorado for at least one stage of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge.

Here's a video for the first part of my race on June 10th. That long paved stretch to start means I should have good positioning, if not a lead, entering the singletrack.

EDIT: I thought all week that the race is this Sunday, but apparently it's next so I have a week off of racing again. That's a relief.

Better man than me. I had 12.5 left on a ride last night and decided to just get a ride to avoid the storm.

If your fastest average speed ever is following a girl, you might be a Fred.
