| The Runner's thread I just started running habitually to try to get into shape once and for all. I figured VN could use a thread for all the runners on the board, as far as training tips and local races. That type of thing.
To start off, I just bought a pair of Asics Gel Kayano 16 and they are by far the best shoe investment I have ever made. $140 but I would have paid more for how comfortable they are |

| Started running again at the beginning of I think March and have been going strong since. Loving it, never thought I would ever run again after high school football was over.

| | Broken Hearted VFL | I prefer jogging (pronounced yogging). Running is too painful and my asthma gets fired up. Although I do enjoy a quick sprint! Posted via VolNation Mobile |

I am running 5 miles every other day.
I would suggest a pedometer that counts steps, calories, distance, and time.
If you have a droid or a touch there are free apps that will do all of the above.
This cost a little to much for me but the best measuring device I have found is this one
This part wraps around your arm then you wear a watch that translates the results. The same one they have on the biggest loser. |

| I'm running a little 6 mile race in cookeville soon. I might be biting off more than I can chew in September, I'm going to run a 17.5 mile trail race in Big South Fork National Park. |
