Letter implicates ATF in making "straw purchases" for Gunrunner
National Gun Rights Examiner

Synopsis: ATF authorized unnamed FFL's to transfer arms for cash to ATF Agent and whistleblower John Dodson without a form 4473, who in turn transferred same to gunrunners bound for Mexico.

Proof established that this is NOT a "botched sting operation" but the ATF directly giving "aid and comfort" to the drug cartels.

It is past time for an independent prosecutor, as multiple government agencies are implicated in this scandal.

In a letter dated June 1, 2010, then Phoenix ATF Group VII supervisor David Voth instructed a Federal Firearms Licensee in Arizona as follows:
Dear Sir,

Per Section 925(a)(1) of the Gun Control Act (GCA) exempts law enforcement agencies from the transportation, shipment, receipt, or importation controls of the GCA when firearms are to be used for the official business of the agency.

Please accept this letter in lieu of completing an ATF Form 4473 for the purchase of four (4) CAI, Model Draco, 7.62x39 mm pistols, by Special Agent John Dodson. These aforementioned pistols will be used by Special Agent Dodson in furtherance of the performance of his official duties. In addition, Special Agent Dodson has not been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence. If you have any questions, you may contact me at telephone number 602-605-6501.

Sincerely,

(Signature)
David Voth
ATF Group Supervisor
Phoenix Group VII
In the lower left-hand margin of the one-page letter is the hand-written notation:
"Picked guns
up 6/10/10
Paid Cash"
"Paid Cash" is underlined.

This all goes back to the claim by BH Obama and HR Clinton
that 90% of the guns found in Mexico come from the US.

That was an outright lie back in 2009.

Obama, Clinton and others have left out important qualifiers when
citing the 90 percent statistic, which originates from the U.S.
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The agency
doesn't have statistics for all weapons in Mexico, where gun sales
are prohibited; it is based on only guns that the Mexican government
sent to the ATF for tracing and that the ATF found were traceable.

Obama Repeats '90 Percent' Stat For U.S. Guns Recovered In Mexico | Fox News

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad and Tobago —

SNIPPET: “In 2007-2008, according to ATF Special Agent William
Newell, Mexico submitted 11,000 guns to the ATF for tracing.
Those 11,000 firearms were part of the 29,000 firearms Mexican
officials recovered at crime scenes. According to the ATF, of the
11,000 submitted to U.S. officials for tracing, 6,000 could be traced
somewhere because of the serial numbers or other distinctive markings.

Of those 6,000 firearms, 5,114 or 90 percent, were found to have
been smuggled from the U.S.

The White House stands by the president’s use of the word
“recovered” in describing the role firearms smuggled from the
U.S. play in Mexico’s drug war.

“We feel good about these numbers and that’s why the president
uses the word recovered,” McDonough said.

Just to repeat: recovered doesn’t mean the percentage of all
firearms confiscated at Mexican crime scenes. It doesn’t mean
the subset of these firearms traceable to any source. It does
mean the percentage of traceable weapons linked to a U.S.
source. And, again, that total is 5,114 out of 29,000 — or
17.6 percent — in the years 2007 and 2008.”

So then the Obama administration, using at least a half dozen
federal agencies, embarked on a campaign to try to up those
numbers in an outright illegal and criminal manner in order to
further their original goal of getting more restrictive gun laws
passed in the US.

Of course this has now come to light, no thanks to the old
media, which doomed the whole scam to failure except that
Obama did issue an executive order in that direction and
even that is being constested in court.

Instead of being truthful about the 'felony stupid' operation
the Obama administration has perjured itself before congress
and has terminated agents for not lying to congress on the
grounds that they displayed a 'lack of candor.'

It has promoted agents that were neck deep in the operation
and even has one of the main culprits in the position of supposedly
investigating the affair. What a sham.

Anyone who thinks the present administration has any credibility
left on this or any other topic is probably suffering from terminal
stupidity.

Fast and furious has led directly to the deaths of 2 or 300 Mexicans,
at least 2 American agents and numerous other crimes north of the
border.

Furthermore fast and furious was just one of several similar operations,
who knows how many deaths have resulted from those?

If that isn't a crime, just what is??

Pajamas Media Gunwalker: Agent Admits His Testimony ‘Lacked … Completeness’

The ATF agent who oversaw Operation Fast and Furious now says his testimony to Congress “lacked clarity and completeness,” Fox News reports:

“After taking time to reflect and review my testimony from the hearing on July 26, 2011, I realize I could have given clearer, more complete and more direct responses to some questions,” former Special Agent in Charge William Newell said in a 12-page document submitted to the House Government Reform and Oversight Committee and obtained by Fox News.

In other words, Newell previously lied:

In a “supplemental statement,” Newell insisted agents did not knowingly allow thousands of weapons to reach criminal hands. Any concerns raised over the program were never voiced to appropriate authorities, he said, and only once did higher-ups tell agents not to arrest a suspect — when the safety of the agents was in jeopardy.

This would appear to be another lie — he contradicts testimony by one of the original ATF whistleblowers, Special Agent John Dodson:

“Rather than conduct any enforcement actions, we took notes, we recorded observations, tracked movements of these individuals, wrote reports, nothing more. Knowing all the while that just days after these purchases, the guns we saw these individuals buy would begin turning up at crime scenes in the U.S. and Mexico. And yet we still did nothing,” says John Dodson, ATF Special Agent.

Moreover, Issa is now calling for an independent prosecutor, according to the Washington Examiner:

Issa complained in a conference call that “there is ongoing cover-up of a pattern of wrongdoing that can’t be explained by any ordinary people [who tried] to do the right thing but made a mistake.”

The Obama administration has been slow to hand over documents to Issa’s committee, and when they have, they’ve been heavily redacted.

“Even though I have subpoena ability, I don’t have the ability to lock people up for contempt until they fess up and give us what we want,” Issa said.

A special prosecutor would have such powers, and would be independent of the government agencies that were responsible for creating and attempting to cover up details of the program.
