AMA, AARP back House health care bill - CNN.com

A hugh boost for Obamacare ?

Will these endorsements put pressure on the moderate Dems in the Senate to vote for Obamacare ?

I don't think this will have any effect. What will happen though is people will cancel their subscriptions to AARP. This morning I have heard 2 "blue dogs" that say they will not vote for this. I am really surprised about 1 of them.

i can't think of a single issue where i have agreed with the aarp. what a slimeball organization. claiming they are non profit while paying their execs 7 figure salaries while selling annuities and other rip off products to their memebers.

AARP stands to gain by increasing the number of people on their own medical insurance plan.

AMA doesn't represent enough doctors to really matter anymore.

The day I turned 50, I had a letter in the mail from AARP. Talk about depressing! I threw it away! From people that I know, those over 50, more and more of them are dropping AARP like a hot tater! Its the brass at AARP that agrees to it!

FWIW, I called Dem. Congressman Gordon's D.C. office this a.m. and told the person who answered I did not support UHC and the operator advised me that Gordon was not voting in favor of it.

Sounded like a call center.

Heres a novel thought.

For all of those that do not mind their taxes going up, for reasons such as - Paying for abortions, Paying for "Law breaking" immigrants to recieve free health care, and the large number of "lazy" Americans that want the government to take care of them period, then feel free to get out your check book. The government will accept anything you give them.

I am a "born again" Christian, and am fully aware that we should do all we can to help those, that can not help themselves. But that should be done voluntarily, and not forced by the government. That way, those that REALLY need it, will get it. Instead of those that do not want to contribute to society.
