Actually, it was quite the opposite. You need to look at what I said in context. I'm saying that those who might be critical can view this exercise as a good thing because some of the students more likely to have problems might identify better with Obama based on minority status. I'm serious about that and am not saying that anyone is criticizingf this based on Obama's race.

But let's return to the issue at hand. Does anyone seriously view such a video as "indoctrination?"

When it comes from a democrat, I do. My son will be staying home. Democrats don't share the same values and beliefs I have. Why would I want him to hear from Obamanation?

My son has no problems that might identify with Obama.

I am glad that you are so open minded.

If anything, those of you convinced that his presidency is all about his being black should root for the possibility that his doing this -- and then asking the kids to come up with a plan to act on it -- will encourage some of the kids on the margins, particularly the black kids, to stay in school and do a little better.

The criticism -- and the article on FOX -- are a huige overreaction to a totally benign thing and just more scare tactics.

Along those lines, I find it somewhat amusing that FOX's headlines is "Critics Decry" the plan as some sort of "indoctrination." The "critics" are one guy -- a guy from the ultra conservative Obama-bashing CATO Institute.

This is the equivalent of Michael Moore starting a news channel and going around and getting quotes from Barabra Streisand and hoisting them up as "news" articles.

Seriously, a video that tells kids to work hard, study, and stay in school is indoctrination? Talk about over-reaching ....
The CATO institute is not ultra-conservative. It is more libertarian and is no more extreme than the Brookings Institute.

If the video is simply encouraging students to stay in school and the importance of education then I have no problem with it.

You make a major assumption that it will only be this. We shall see.

Yeah, we'll come back next week and see what all the hoopla was about.

A school principal has apologized for showing a video at an assembly that a politically conservative group leader is calling “radical, leftist propaganda.”

Children at Eagle Bay Elementary School in Farmington were shown a short video called “I pledge” on Aug. 28. The video opens with an image of President Barack Obama and part of a speech in which he says, “Let us summon a new spirit of patriotism, of responsibility where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves but each other.” The video then features celebrities making pledges about how they will help the president and the world — and that’s where some say the problem lies…

… Gayle Ruzicka, president of conservative Utah Eagle Forum, said the video was blatantly political. She said other offensive pledges included, “I pledge to be of service to Barack Obama,” “I pledge allegiance to the funk, to the united funk of funkadelica,” and pledges to not use plastic grocery bags and not flush the toilet after urinating.

“It’s very inappropriate to show a radical, leftist propaganda piece that political to children,” Ruzicka said. “If parents want their children to learn about those things and do them in the home, wonderful, fine, but it’s not the place of the school to show a one-sided propaganda piece to children without parents knowing about it.”

Cieslewicz said such values should be decided in the home, not at school.

Malkin and others are encouraging parents to keep their kids out of school that day. The State of Texas is considering banning showing the President of the United States.

They aren't fooling anyone. There is no "indoctrination," and anyone in their right mind knows this. The SOLE reason to do this is to perpetuate the fear, the made up anxiety, and to embarrass the President.

It really has gotten to the point of absurdity.

Thank goodness our last president didn't have to deal with anything like that.
