Same situation, different a**hole. We might be even worse with McCain in the White House.

We'd probably be in a similar place economically . . . but I'm reasonably certain we wouldn't be in the process of nuking the whole economic system as we know it.

I would say about the same.

I am not nore have I ever been a fan of Juan McCain.

He was instrumental in the appointment of Souter who was, interestingly, the aurthor of the magic bullet theory in the JFK assassination.

(bullet passes through Kennedy, pierces the Tehas guvner (jump on that spelling hatboy) twice and ends up on the gourney at the hospital, completely unmarred after passing through all that, jeez, I have no credibility gap)

The silver lining for the republicans was that if something should happen to the president, Palin would be a heck of a lot more desirable than Rosary Joe Biden, the most corrupt public figure in Washington, bar none, including Harry Reid who has been mobbed up since his beginning in politics.

And Barry promised no more Washington insider politics.

“Mark my words: It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy,” Biden told the crowd. “The world is looking. We’re about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Watch, we’re going to have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy.”

(A conspiracy theory geek???)

Potential moron in chief.

No, 'we' didn't elect a Socialist. Approximately 67 million complete freakin' morons elected a Socialist.

'We' had no part in that unqualified idiot being elected.

It's sad that out of the millions of people in this country, these two were the only choices we had last fall. IMHO

Hear! Hear!

It's almost unfathomable that they were all we had.

I think McCain would have vetoed the "stimulus" bill out of hand and forced congress to muster the votes to override it.

the same goes for the pork laden spending bill.

Meghan McCain's 15 minutes would have been used up by appearances on "The View" and not Bill Maher's show.

I'd like to think that, but McCain's moderate streak is just too wide.

it is pretty wide, but at least he's pretty consistent on wasteful spending and that's all the Pelosi pork sandwich was.

He did promise to veto any pork and really stick it to senators putting pork into legislation. I don't know if he'd stray from such a major campaign promise that soon after being elected.

Well LSM should be happy, they were in lock step all the way.

I have no faith in him, I think that is just window dressing, when things get tough he always crosses the isle, remember the gang of 14??

He is on the climate change band wagon and would no doubt have also pushed for a cap and tax bill and everything else pales in comparison.

The worst possible move for the American people that the current government could ever make.

There will be no going back.

615, what do think might have been different should we have elected McCain??

I don't know if a truer statement has ever been spoken. I voted Mcain but was not very excited about the possibility of him sitting the Oval Office.

I read through this thread and realized no one here really knows much about John McCain. The guy who insulted him I dare you to do it to his face.

He may be what some frame as a moderate but no more moderate then Reagan was. He was a hope for the republicans to move back to where the party was in the Reagan era. Now McCain is a bad politician and does not come across well on TV. He is not the best thing in the world. But he is someone who sticks to his guns. That is how earned the hate of so many lol. He would not have passed stimulus as it was that is a joke to think so. He would not have passed any of this pork. He would have had a bipartisan effort right now. The economy would be better off but still bad. The recovery is being made to take years longer in the direction we are moving.

I can say also he would of burned the Heroin. He would not have praised Putin. He would not be considering negotiations with Hamas. And he would not have alienated Israel. I have been watching John McCain for a long time. And he has stood for and said the same things for all of that time. The recent republican party or the Bush party has been lying and trashing his name for awhile now. But it was not always this republican party. It was once the Republican party. It once represented a broader spectrum of ideas. You guys better listen to Newt get off this idea of the party you have or watch it dwindle to insignificance. McCain is a Reagan Republican. I really feel like people don't know what that is anymore.

We need to hand the party back to Newt. We need to authorize him to silence the extremist and allow other people of differing views in. We are not going to have a 1920 Laissez Faire economy get over it. And we are not going to start legislating from the bible. It is time for some much needed real talk. Our country needs some quality leadership ASAP.
