New mixture of viruses in flu never seen before
* Eight cases found in California and Texas
* Close to 1000 suspected cases
* Risk of Pandemic

- A strain of flu never seen before has killed as many as 61 people in Mexico and has spread into the United States, where eight people have been infected but recovered, health officials said on friday.

Mexico's government said at least 16 people have died of the disease in central Mexico and that it may also have been responsible for 45 other deaths. The World Health Organization said tests showed the virus in 12 of the Mexican patients had the same genetic structure as a new strain of swine flu, designated H1N1, seen in eight people in California and Texas. [nLO274836]

Because there is clearly human-to-human spread of the new virus, raising fears of a major outbreak, Mexico's government canceled classes for millions of children in its sprawling capital city and surrounding areas.

How long until gsvol or Hannity suggests that the Mexican government is doing this intentionally? Probably in conjunction with the Muslim pirates of Somalia.

Probably about the same amount of time it will take for gs to take up all the bandwidth on this server.

He's going to be criticized for not acting to close the border with Mexico sooner, if this does become a pandemic.

That wouldn't be Obama's fault. Bush and Clinton didn't do much in the previous 16 years, either.

Be afraid, very afraid.

Well it is baseball season.

I think it's just another disease scare.

However, we must act on it.

How do you recommend our knee jerk reaction should be??

Remember the Newcastle scare????
How many lies were accepted by the public back then??
Clue one, a whole damned bunch of them, nearly as many as the Serbian genocide hoax.

Somali pirates don't eat pork.

Does your PMS occur once or twice a month??

Before they do, I bet Obama apologizes to Mexico for the US not having done enough to control the supply of flu in the world.

uh oh

Obama’s Visit
The first case was seen in Mexico on April 13. The outbreak coincided with the President Barack Obama’s trip to Mexico City on April 16. Obama was received at Mexico’s anthropology museum in Mexico City by Felipe Solis, a distinguished archeologist who died the following day from symptoms similar to flu, Reforma newspaper reported. The newspaper didn’t confirm if Solis had swine flu or not.

I bet if your car were as fast as your hyperbole, you could catch some of those ambulances you've been chasing.

Well looking on the bright side, if we had a pandemic here that ran along those lines, in the short term, we could be a lot more confident Barry would only serve one term and in the long term, look how much money Social Security would save forty years down the road!!!!
:)

Seriously though, the influenza virus has been described as a perfect bio-weapon, it can be cultivated in a lab, have a vaccine developed before it is released and it spreads quickly, is airborne and carriers don't know they have it for two or three days.

Why couldn't this happen when Obama visited Venezuela?

I don't think Barry has been to Venezuela, he was smoozing with Chavez and Ortega in Trinidad - Tobago at the 'summit of the Americas', a convention first initiated by Bubba Clinton in 1994.

BTW, the book given Obama by Chavez is known as the 'Latin leftist's bible.'....“Open Veins of Latin America,”

A decade ago, "Open Veins" was attacked by a conservative literary movement and featured in an irreverent publication, "Manual of the Perfect Latin American Idiot." Most of Galeano's work was translated into English by a British-born Socialist, Cedric Belfrage, who was deported from America in the 1950s.

Barry should be up on all the latest marxist literature, here he was on the campaign trail reading the muslim version of marxist thought, "the post America world."

Ronald Reagan had one of the funniest comments on the topic:

"A communist is someone who has read Marx.
An anti-communist is someone who understands Marx."

Not to contribute to the ridiculous political echo chamber that is volnation's politics forum, but it doesn't look good that we still don't have a secretary of the department of health, over 100 days into Obama's term during the beginnings of probably the biggest public health event in a few years.

Even for the best of accountants, it takes a bit of time to clean up seven years of messy financial paperwork, especially if practically everything in it is a lie.

Right. What happened to him? Why isn't he the Secretary?

(Hint: The same people who are going to blame Obama for not having a Sec of Health)

same issue many of Obama's people ran into: there was no background check on any appointee

Never mind half Barry's appointments are tax cheats.

Obama's vetting process only seems to check whether levels of radicalism ore off the charts or not, the more radical your agenda, the more likely you are to get an Obama appointment.

This is getting worse by the hour it seems.

Not sure if this one has been posted:

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Fears of a global swine flu pandemic grew with new infections in the United States and Canada on Sunday, and millions of Mexicans hid indoors to avoid a virus that has already killed up to 81 people.

While the only deaths have been in Mexico, the flu is spreading with 20 cases in the United States and six in Canada, and possible cases as far afield as Europe, Israel and New Zealand.

Offering a glimmer of hope in Mexico, President Felipe Calderon said most of the roughly 1,300 people in the country suspected of having the flu have been given a clean bill of health.
