They just don't get it....

Citi Plans $10 Million Office Refurb For Executives: Report - FOXBusiness.com

Do banks seriously not have any PR people to tell them this doesn't look good, despite the justification?

And how does 17 new offices save money?

Oh, I thought this was going to be about the government giving them money in the first place...

What was I thinking?

I have to agree, it is getting to the point of it being a parody unto itself.

I agree, but what is $165 million compared againt the billions AIG received? It's not the amount, it is how it is being spent. Can't they put off new offices for a year?

It just doesn't look good. It's public relations idiocy.

Thank god Obama and geithner are spending an inordinate amount of time on this.

Taking bailout money from the government and spending capital on what appears to be frivolous crap, whether it is or not. I don't think it would cost them that much to put it off for a year, or even 6 months until the media finds some other issue to focus on.

Seems to me the government can't quite grasp the concept of not putting your money in a business if you don't like the way that business is run.

That's an understatement.

I would also add the government can't grasp the fact they screwed the pooch on handing out all this money without the provisions that would have prevented all the stuff they are up in arms about now.

Whether someone agrees with Obama or not, any reasonable person can see Congress is doing a horrible job now. Pelosi and Reid are pathetic beyond description.

What do you mean, "now?" They've had an approval rating in the low teens forever, it seems like. And yet because of pork barrel politics, the individuals keep getting re-elected to assemble the same crappy "sum."

By "now" I meant since the election.

On balance, I don't agree with Obama on the way he is using a crisis to push through an agenda. It reminds me of the way the Bush administration did the same thing. But I am completely sick of the partisan games Pelosi and Reid have been playing. I really think we would be in much better shape with a Repub majority in both houses right now.

Balance of power is better. I like it best when the legislature is gridlocked and does nothing. That's far better in the long run.
