Kyrgyzstan moves to shut US base

BBC NEWS | Asia-Pacific | Kyrgyzstan moves to shut US base

Quote:

The announcement comes at a critical moment, just as the new administration of US President Barack Obama plans a sharp increase in the number of American troops in Afghanistan. For Russia, on the other hand, it is a significant diplomatic victory as it seeks to reassert its influence in all former Soviet republics and beyond, our correspondent says.

Not really, sorry. I was only there for a day waiting for a flight back to the states. It will make it a lot more difficult getting in and out of Bagram I would say. Manas was kind of a back door out of there so you didn't have to go through Kuwait.

Congratulations on an extraordinary history making election!

Saul Alinsky on "Change".

"There's another reason for working inside the system. Dostoevsky said that taking a new step is what people fear most. Any revolutionary change must be preceded by a passive, affirmative, non-challenging attitude toward change among the mass of our people. They must feel so frustrated, so defeated, so lost, so futureless in the prevailing system that they are willing to let go of the past and change the future. This acceptance is the reformation essential to any revolution."

Thoughts???

That air base isn't very important either strategically or tactically and typically the BBC tries to make a big deal over nothing.
