Oh no he didn't!

That's roughly the equivalent of Rosie O'Donell comparing herself to Angelina Jolie. They are both women, but that is where the comparison ends. Similarly, both Lincoln and Bush were presidents. But that is absolutely where the comparison ends.

Without a doubt, Bush will go down in history as one of the five worst presidents we've had through the first 45, while Lincoln of course is in the top five.

Do you have any idea of the context of the comparison?

Does it matter the context? Unless he was saying, hey he was a republican president, I was a republican president....the similarities end there.

That would be the point. I can't imagine him saying something like that without context. That's why it matters.

I just saw a clip of Brett Baier talking about the interview. I'm not sure Bush really compared himself to Lincoln as far as "greatness". It sounds like Bush was comparing himself to Lincoln as far as their circumstances . . . being heavily criticized and unpopular for engaging in controversial wars.

Obama has compared himself to Lincoln, FDR, JFK, and probably George Washington.

Considering he's not even President yet, I'd say he has a lock on the BS comparison hyperbole.

and BPV, "context" doesn't matter with the Bush haters.

Lawgator, I hate to burst your bubble...no, actually I don't.

Who is being compared to Lincoln by the left?

Its old now. All the President Bush jokes and quips are really old. Its like some people are 7th graders from time to time.

Exactly. To me, he is making it sound like he is in any way analogous to Lincoln and trying, weakly, to defend against the critics by saying Lincoln had them, too.

It was quite shocking.

Sorry. Didn't realize you were asking a serious question. That seems to happen so infrequently in these discussions.

No doubt lawlizard rates Jimmuh Cahtuh as one of the top five best presidents.

I'd like to see the interview before saying one way or the other. Not sure that comparing the two situations is really that shocking. Now if he went a step further and compared his leadership to Lincoln's . . .
