| | Senior Member | Oh no he didn't! I heard some clips of the Bush press conference today. In one, he compared himself to Abraham Lincoln! WHHHAAAATTTTT!?!?
That's roughly the equivalent of Rosie O'Donell comparing herself to Angelina Jolie. They are both women, but that is where the comparison ends. Similarly, both Lincoln and Bush were presidents. But that is absolutely where the comparison ends.
Without a doubt, Bush will go down in history as one of the five worst presidents we've had through the first 45, while Lincoln of course is in the top five. |

It sounds like Bush was comparing himself to Lincoln as far as their circumstances . . . being heavily criticized and unpopular for engaging in controversial wars. |

| Obama has compared himself to Lincoln, FDR, JFK, and probably George Washington.
Considering he's not even President yet, I'd say he has a lock on the BS comparison hyperbole.
and BPV, "context" doesn't matter with the Bush haters.

| Its old now. All the President Bush jokes and quips are really old. Its like some people are 7th graders from time to time.

Exactly. To me, he is making it sound like he is in any way analogous to Lincoln and trying, weakly, to defend against the critics by saying Lincoln had them, too.
It was quite shocking. |
