If I was in congress

And any CEO in any industry whether it be financial, automotive or whatever and they were looking for a handout calling it a loan I would demand that they put up all their personal assets for collateral.

I would demand they quit overpaying their workers, who produce a product that nobody wants, which is then sold at a loss. Thanks called a bad business model. See Toyota and Honda on how to run a car company.

I'd tell them to poop in one hand and wish in the other and see which one fills up first.

Maybe not but they were doing much better before the economy turned and by all accounts I hear are weathering the storm much better than the big American auto manufacturers.

Could have fooled me, I went to buy a NEW Honda Civic a few months ago. Nobody with 4 hours of my house had any in stock, there was a waiting list everywhere. And I know for a fact Honda does not loose money on their cars.

Oh I agree the Big 3 put all their eggs in the big gas guzzler basket and when gas skyrocketed their fate seemed sealed.

Can't speak for Honda although they did recently pull out of F1 racing recently due to economic factors but Toyota is hurting right now you can check their recent sales #'s if you want.

The type of vehicles they built is only a portion of their problem. The union is and was their biggest obstacle outside of the economy right now. Even if the economy turns they will still have that monkey on their back.

they put alot of their eggs in the gas sucking SUV and truck basket also. Toyota's V8 assembly plant in located where I live, and they did slow production of the V8 motors.

Well they made deals years ago they should not have such as the healthcare for employees after retirement that is a huge if not biggest problem they have union wise of course they were the only guys on the block when they were making these concessions.Plus alot of people do not trust their quality over the Japanese cars.

If I was in CONGRESS.

I would take PAC and special interest money.
The occasional bribe.Enjoy the rush of power and omnipotence that occur minute by minute.Feel free to embrace elitism.Live by misinforming my constituents,
Taking their money to insure my new life style, with little or no return for them.Continue to promote reform and
change when its not coming because of my belief in the establish system.Pass legislation for annual pay raises
for myself.Because merit raises might not work their.
I can hardly wait !
