Really it's just some silly columnist's opinion. Seems more tongue and cheek than anything else. She's doesn't speak for the NYT anymore than Bill Kristol or Judy Miller.

Don't agree with the tongue in cheek. BTW, I did know it was just a columnist...

The nutty thing is that other than speeding up a massive stimulus package by 2 months, Obama and Bush are on pretty much the same page on the bail outs and economic policy.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you didn't know she was just a columnist. Honestly, when I first saw your link, I thought it was something from the Editorial Board. That's on me.

It's really just a matter of psychology at this point. Obviously, most Americans (many journalists included) have lost confidence with Bush and they're ready for what they perceive to be more grownup leadership. I know we only have one president at a time... Still, it is unfortunate timing for all of these problems. Imagine if 9/11 had happened in December 2000 just weeks before Clinton left office.

I've read other articles basically saying the same thing. At this point, confidence in W as a leader is gone. But it's still ridiculous to propose he step down.

The W and Obama economy plans are similar because we are down to the last straws before firing up the money printing presses. It's just that a new administration offers hope where the current administration is widely viewed as incompetent and uncapable.
