Its getting shrill ...

On the drive in, tuned into Beck and Boortz. They are almost frothing at the mouth, they are so out there now. Beck said Obama is a Marxist. Boortz was questioning someone in England who listens to his show on BBC. Not very easy to figure out what they were talking about as Boortz tends to wander a bit. But basically anything positive about Obama said by the caller was pounced on and mocked by Boortz with some sort of rhetorical question. He asked the guy if he liked peace and he said yes, and Boortz immediately goes "Define peace!" and prattles on nonsensenically for a minute or so. Kind of odd.

Tom Delay was on CNN last night. He also threw out the Marxist label. Seems like that is going to be the last minute mantra. Even though 80 percent of the American people cannot define Marxist (and probably half of the commentators throwing the label around can't either), its a good buzzword and invokes a lot of negative images.

Its going to be really, really harsh this weekend from the right, I suspect. They have no shame. Its disgusting.

It is a perfectly true statement that he has Marxist principles.

It's a fact he was the most liberal senator... mix that with a liberal controlled congress plus liberal media and that leads to a recipe for disaster.

Isn't that what this country tries to avoid?

That should be enough to keep people from voting for BHO.

What a shock, you're listening to the people you despise then criticizing them.

LG does anything concern you about Obama? Meaning does anything he has done, or plans to do, or believes concern you?

Beck went a step further and called him a "Socialist Communist Fascist."

That's a strong combo.

It'd be entertaining if I knew his listeners didn't take him seriously.

It should have been shrill months ago. BHO represents many ideals that contradict traditional American principles. No way he should ever run a campaign without a huge outcry against him.

I'm criticizing the shrillness, yes.

JZVOL's points are perfectly valid. It is perfectly legitimate to complain that Obama is going to tax the upper 5 % too much and that it will have the effect of hurting business investment. It is perfectly fine to say that his healthcare plan will be too bureaucratic and inefficient. It is absolutely correct to criticize his lack of foreign policy experience.

But calling him a Marxist is designed simply to exaggerate and scare people. As someone who is trying to make an intellectually honest assessment of the candidates, it depresses me and yes even antagonizes me that the Republican machine is using such tactics.

A certain amount of hyperbole is inevitable in any campaign. But this is just ridiculous.

I don't think LG is any more offended by this crap as many members of this board are by the "liberal elite media."

Well, he's likely to become your president. Let that sink in.
