Don't look now but McCain got a bigger bounce

Gallup Daily: McCain Moves Ahead, 48% to 45%

3 point lead in latest Gallup Tracking Poll - basically +10 shift from Obama's biggest lead.

The RCP average now sits at 0.8 points for Obama.

Significantly, Obama has moved from 50% to 45%.

Tomorrow should show a few more polls that can track the RNC bounce.

Is this the VP bounce? I would have a hard time believing that McCain got a bounce out of the RNC..unless you consider that people didn't know Palin until her RNC speech, I guess.

I think part is McCain and part is the VP pick solidifying the base. It will be interesting to see if his support among undecideds/independents changed much (I guess it had to since he hasn't been at 48% until now). I think any undecideds he picked up were probably more him than her.

All this indicates to me is that he closed the 3+ point gap but neither guy is hitting the magic 50% number.

Obama still has the electoral lead but it is slimming - the state polls don't yet reflect the RNC bounce (counter bounce).

the mainstream media's treatment of Sarah Palin isn't helping the Obama ticket either. Obama's pleas to leave the families out of it have fallen on deaf ears and his most vocal supporters are going to be one of the reasons he loses in November.

I thought polls were "crap", guess that's only when Obama is leading.

Specific polls results ARE often crap, but poll trends do tend to mean something.

The gallup poll before either convention was 48 for McCain and 46 for Obama. Now it is 48 for McCain and 45 for Obama so it looks pretty much the same now. It appears they both got about the same bounce so they cancelled each other out.

This is pure BS.

She might be a skin lesion away from facing Medvedev, Putin, Ahmadenijad, etc. I'd say we certainly have a right to know who she is and what she's been up to.

Ridiculous.

I think you are probably right. It was even before and it's even now. I always wonder who the people are that watch conventions and actually get swayed.

but she's at least some malady away. The other inexperienced teleprompter reader would need to and has said he would. I'd rather have the health issue in the way.

You don't seem near as interested in these details concerning the D ticket. But yea, I'm all for knowing what she has been up to and who she is, the more they put that out the more people will realize how much more competent the number 2 on the R ticket is than the number 1 on the D ticket.

Ridiculous?

We're a poor vote turnout away from Obama facing those same evil leaders as well. Without pre-conditions of course.

They have it virtually tied at 46 McCain and 45.2 Obama
