Still, I have yet to see anyone representing either political party say anything remotely close to impugning Palin's role as a mother. Pundit hacks like Brooks and Shields don't count.

check Shields' bio before you say that. I know he's a pundit now, but his career began as a political consultant to democrats like Robert Kennedy and Ed Muskie.

Shields doesn't represent the Democratic party anymore than Pat Buchanan or Joe Scarborough represent the Republican Party.

Riddle me this....how would the 17 year old daughter feel if she was used as the reason for her mother declining the nomination...

If it were me, I'd leave her family decisions and children out of it. All of this talk of underage pregancy and whatnot reminds me of nothinf more than the JFK Jr. death media debacle. It's not my problem and I coudln't care less.

More damaging are emerging reports that she's not as much of a maverick as she appeared to be at first, having strong ties to Ted Stevens lobbyists and actually being a proponent of the "bridge to nowhere" before later reversing her decision.

The Obama camp really should be making a huge effort to NOT take shots at Palin's family. Because if that door is opened, Biden's son comes into play. Of course, who wouldn't want the father of a scammer as VP?

You missed that one bad...the point is that Sarah was not going to have her daughter be the reason she turned down the nomination. Bristol would have had to live with that the rest of her life.
The thoughts are from a mother to her daughter.

Saw an article in a San Fran paper today saying she was against expanding legislation on hate crimes. The article tried to paint this as a negative. Go figure.
