| Jfk One of the democratic party's most celebrated members. Would he be considered a republican by today's standards? Quote: |
"My fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you -- ask what can you do for your country."
| This would go against the "Let the government do everything for you" mentality that the dems seem to want to cram down our throats. Quote: |
"My fellow citizens of the world, ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man."
| Again, this sounds more like a conservative approach to foreign policy. It would appear his philosophies would now be considered conservative. Or am I just in dire need of a beer?

| JFK wouldn't recognize today's democrats and he'd call them what they are, socialists.

I'm saying it was likely guilt that turned them that way. Although we see hordes of other wealthy that get to the point of not caring about giving money away any longer.
I guarantee you that Joe Kennedy, who made all the money, would thing Robert and Teddy are complete idiots with their fighting over minimum wage and such.
Joe made his initial money as a bootlegger but got stupid rich on full blown insider trading before he pushed for the laws to end insider trading. |

Your problem, like every other right winger in this forum, is you think there is no conservatism in democrats. The best democrats are conservative dems, and there are MANY still operating within our Congress.
Spoken like a true right winger. |

Spoken like a true right winger. | what the hell is the purpose of being conservative, yet remaining aligned with modern democrats? How is it helping a conservative agenda to increase dems in congress? That's pure genius.
We conservatives might be too thick to understand, but it sounds completely retarded.
Run down for me the conservative ideals of those conservative dems. You know, I'm one of the right wingers who can't grasp politics like you genius conservative dems.
Spoken like a confused bystander. Posted via VolNation Mobile |

| The Great Society was JFK's platform; he was just ineffective at passing its policies because his margin of victory was so small in the 1960 election. Johnson was able to pass them because he exploited JFK's death. So no, he would not be a Republican today. Hell, Eisenhower probably wouldn't either due to the neocon and religious nutjobs that have taken over the party.
