| Is there any body out there that remembers the Cuban Missle Crisis? Can anyone name the chief reason why the Kremlin thought they could get away with putting nukes right off our border? |

It was because of this the world was on the brink of nuclear war. I know Putin sits in Russia and in weighing our two presidential candidates knows who his choice would be. Welcome to the new cold war. |

| this isn't going to the last attack on a country from putin. especially if obama is going to get elected. he knows how weak democrats are when it comes to defense and he'll use that for his advantage. obama, UN and nato will pass some meaningless resolution condeming the actions but he'll not care. Putin can also use oil as a weapon, which i don't think they had during the 1st cold war. it's going to be interesting to see what happens. |

| It's too late for Georgia but you can expect to see Ukraine fast tracked for NATO membership now. |

| i don't know, i think russia has grown a new set of balls. it's got strong backers in China and Iran. it sees a chance to take back their old countries. when you have russian generals basically threatens to nuke ukraine, that's pretty ballsy |

China is more likely to choose us and sneak in to steal Russia's natural resources

China is fostering a growing economy. They have invested too much in the west and their own infrastructure to let it implode. |

I think it will be much more interesting to see where India finds itself in all of this. They are in a similar situation as China though. |

Plus, Israel would be on our side just waiting for the chance to strike those nuke plants they're supposed to have. Anything short of a land war with China would end quickly.

It will not be in conventional warfare that they fight us though. They will try to make it as painful for us as possible in Iraq, I believe that is where the Iranian front of that war would be if fought. |
