I don't get your point - what are the threats he made that he's not following through on?

McCain (Obama /US Admin) are calling an emergency meeting for NATO, thats an implied threat. You dont call up NATO to discuss economic sanctions, unless it implies military intervention. NATO would be convened only after sanctions have been discussed and they would need to be informed.
Sorry, I haven't been reading up on Obamas stance, but you guys are right that everyone is basically saying the same thing (Obama & US Admin). Russia called our bluff and we were caught in promises we could not keep. |

He's a freakin' invalid. |

Just pointing out how easy it is to be considered an advisor, given the Obama rule. Hell, given that you just directly responded to this post probably puts me on the short list for his Secretary of Defense. |

| The US has really flubbed the energy issue for the past 30 years. Going to be a cost for that. |

| evidently this is all a plot by Repubs to defeat Obama Kremlin dusts off Cold War lexicon to make US villain in Georgia - Times Online Quote: |
Russians were told over breakfast yesterday what really happened in Georgia: the conflict in South Ossetia was part of a plot by Dick Cheney, the Vice-President, to stop Barak Obama being elected president of the United States.
| Quote: |
“George Bush's Administration is promoting interests of candidate John McCain,” said Dr Markov. “Defeated by Barak Obama on all fronts, McCain has one last card to play yet - the creation of a virtual Cold War with Russia . . . Bush himself did not want a war in South Ossetia but his Republican Party did not leave him any choice.” The Americans were now engineering an armed conflict between Ukraine and Russia, Dr Markov added.
