so McCain proposes this, and the challenge is accepted, Obama wins the Presidency, super battery is created, Obama raises taxes on God and everybody, winning inventor receives a post-Obama tax check for exactly $241.37.

I don't think that an x-prize style of competition is what we need in the energy sector. But, they have certainly been proposed (there were signs around campus here all last month about a new energy x-prize-like design competition). However, I will say that McCain is spot-on with regard to his analysis of the corn ethanol subsidy situation (and how it relates to other sources, such as sugarcane).
